There isn't WP:SIGCOV for this topic. This article is sourced to unreliable sources such as blogs, or promotional sources affiliated with the subject. WP:BEFORE only revealed brief coverage that does not support a stand-alone Wikipedia article. Jontesta (talk) 03:13, 22 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Keep: Not sure what was used in the WP:BEFORE search: I searched for "Tow Mater" in Google Scholar, and I got 3 pages of discussion of Mater's accent in Stigmatized on Screen: How Hollywood Portrays Nonstandard Dialects. There is also significant coverage in academic work regarding the way Mater is dubbed in French (Colleen Montgomery, "Double Doublage: Vocal Performance in the French-Dubbed Versions of Pixar’s Toy Story and Cars," in Locating the Voice in Film: Critical Approaches and Global Practices, Oxford University Press, 2017) and Italian (Vincenza Minutella, (Re)Creating Language Identities in Animated Films: Dubbing Linguistic Variation). @StAnselm Good finds, I can confirm the first source meets (my subjective view of) SIGCOV, i.e. I see 2+ paragraphs with some analysis that goes beyond plot summary. I am not sure about the other two, which are about paragraph long if not shorter (few sentences within a larger paragrph). As such, I call borderline for now and abstain from the vote vote while I think more. However, I'd oppose hard deletion here, a redirect to List of Cars characters is the most deletionist view I would support (particularly if nobody bothers to expand this). Merge into List of Cars characters, you can spout sources until you are blue in the face but if they are all trivial coverage, the subject should not have a standalone article.
