Some of my own thoughts for fuure improvements

  1. Change to widescreen, 16:9 format - possible resolution 640x360
  2. Put camera parallel to ground to show more sky - might improve overall look

Would like more comments, please! Thanks. GDallimore (talk) 16:08, 8 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Looks good. It may be helpful to let the camera linger on the center object for another second or two once the zoom reaches it and zooms out again (occurs at 3s). It seems to me that it's not really allowing the reader to grasp what's going on when it immediately snaps back. Possibly do the same at the beginning and the end to give some breathing room. Other than that, very well done. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 04:44, 12 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Am working on some other improvements and will make sure to do that, too. GDallimore (talk) 17:44, 20 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Using 3D animation is a great idea, I can't believe no one did this earlier. The animation does a brilliant job illustrating what a dolly zoom is. Some suggestions:
  1. I think the funky colors are unnecessary
  2. Maybe you could make the balls into some other shape to make it stand out more against the blob person
It would be great if you create animations for other techniques in Category:Cinematography as well. - Kollision (talk) 06:40, 22 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I agree with 1 - it was just a simple colour scheme to run some tests. Once I have the basics down, I can move towards making it more realistic as an image, which should also tackle point 2.
As for other types of shot, any particular suggestions? I can't see anything obvious in that category, I'm afraid. One that springs to my mind is where there's a narrow depth of field and the focal point shifts between two objects/people in an otherwise static scene to change the "focus" of the viewer. But I don't know what that's called or even if there's an article on it. GDallimore (talk) 13:07, 22 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
I think what you're describing is racking focus (doesn't have any illustrations yet). Other articles that could use an animation are tilt, tracking shot, whip pan and panning. - Kollision (talk) 08:48, 31 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
