Some of this images are not public domain but protected by copyright and licensed under a free license. Means you can reuse the images as long as you credit the author. Provide sources and credit the authors. --Martin H. (talk) 17:41, 25 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

- That means you created all small images yourself? All are your own photographic works?? I dont think so, e.g. in File:Ukrainians Ukraine people.jpg the photographic work File:Yulia Tymoshenko, 2010.JPG is used, that file is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 license: You can reuse the photo but you must attribute its author otherwise you violate copyright. See Commons:Collages for help, see File:Cuscoinfobox.png for an example. --Martin H. (talk) 16:05, 26 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
- Can you help me with does 3 images because I dont have a time for learning all the rules of copyright. Plese, only this time? --SeikoEn (talk) 16:12, 26 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
- please answer on your talk as asked at the top of my talkpage. I can help you with the "layout", attribution, license etc. but I can not help you with finding the small images. Please provide at least a list used files in the source fields of the montages. --Martin H. (talk) 16:16, 26 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

- Did some editing based on your infos. However some comments:
- File:Ukrainians diaspora name.jpg contains one image that is not licensed at the source as initially said. That image is by all I can see unfree and not usuable for the montage.
- Please dont describe Uploaders as authors, uploaders are not authors, the author of File:Dovzhenko.jpg is not Kaktuse, realy not.
- Please dont link to wikipedia with an external link if you can also link via Wikilinks or better directly link to Commons - the file is not on en.wp but here on Wikimedia Commons.
- Now done here, thanks and happy editing. --Martin H. (talk) 13:47, 31 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

@SeikoEn, the best would be to substitute the fair-use images against free ones or, if no such are available, to completely remove them from your collage. Otherwise you might try to upload the image under fair-use on :en. But then it could only be used on :en. --Túrelio (talk) 08:09, 19 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

It's great that you properly indicated sources for all images, however please take a look at Commons:Collages#Combining_different_Creative_Commons_versions to check (and correct) licensing of your collage. Also check whether there is no license incompatibility. Masur (talk) 13:33, 20 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
- just check whether each license (especially older) allows newer ones. I gave you a link. Just at a glance I see that you wrongly "upgraded" some licenses to 3.0 and GFDL. And I won;t correct it for you, cos I don't touch other people upload (licenses). Masur (talk) 16:36, 20 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
I think I understand now. Thanks a lot! Best regards!--SeikoEn (talk) 17:29, 20 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi
THe map includes text from a Canadian website.
Is that text copyright free ?
thanks Chaosdruid (talk) 17:22, 4 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
- Do not worry, used content is to small and it is not under threat. There are respected limits, source is listed etc. Best regards! --SeikoEn (talk) 07:59, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
- The text you inculde on the map is copyright by the encyclopedia. Even if it was ok to use it it should be in the bodty of the article not in the image.
- I suggest you remove it immediately and re-insert the picture without the text.
- Chaosdruid (talk) 19:53, 8 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
- ?
- Do not attack me
- "In the future, you have no right to move the text if I am the author." If you are the author that is correct, the text was directly copied from a copyrighted website - that is a copyvio and I have everyright to remove the text, which I did not do, but gave you PLENTY of time to remove it yourself or get evidence of any permission, licences or documents stating that it was ok to use it.- You chose to eventually remove the copyrighted text on 13 January, well done.
- "If you do not like the text that is your problem but it is not the problem of Wikipedia" WEll unfortunately it is the problem of Wikipedia - I will not get sued for you putting copyrighted text in there but Wiki could.
- I was thinking you were an experienced and mature editor but, after these last comments, perhaps I should review my thoughts on that matter? Chaosdruid (talk) 15:39, 26 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the reply. It has reassured me that my original thoughts were correct, that you are indeed mature :¬) There are provocateurs, most of them have no understanding of anything to do with etiquette, prose, history or accuracy of research. Chaosdruid (talk) 22:31, 15 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
My contributions are not "vandalism". I was trying to turn your maps into something that can actually be used in Wikipedia articles. If you are so possessive about the original files you uploaded, I will be very happy to re-upload the cropped versions under different titles. The point is that you included inset legends in your maps, something that makes them completely useless in articles. Not to mention map scales that were simply wrong. I am grateful you made the maps at all, and I will just use cropped versions under variant titles, no problem.
Can you please indicate what map you did use as the blank map for the background? It seems to be a modern blank map of Europe, but you need to indicate where you got it, otherwise it is not verifiable that your work is actually compatible with Wikimedia's free licence. --Dbachmann 09:12, 29 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
From the section above, I conclude that the text you inset in your maps isn't even your own, but ripped off the web. This makes your maps very questionable in terms of copyright. From your reaction to the perfectly reasonable inquiry above, I suspect that the blank map you used was also simply found somewhere on the web.
Unless you can provide perfectly satisfactory references from the sources you used for your maps, I am afraid I will have to bring this to the wider attention of the community. Thanks. --Dbachmann 09:15, 29 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
- I support Dbachmann's statements here. The cropping of copyrighted text is not vandalism, and must be done if these maps stand any chance of remaining here. Further, the licenses you released these maps under explicitly allow such edits to be made. I encourage you to ask questions regarding the issues raised, and to not simply issue disparaging comments. — Huntster (t @ c) 14:05, 29 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi
I noticed another map has been left with a copyvio text insert. The text is copyvio from the Internet Encyclopaedia of Ukraine (copyvio is from [1]). I had thought that the matter was resolved, but it appears they have not been fixed. If the matter is not resolved then I suspect that deletions will be the only way forwards. Hi, can you describe how you selected people for File:Ukrainian_scientists.jpg? One of them is Trofim Lysenko whos agricultural experimentation and research is largely viewed as fraudulent. Another is Ihor Ohirko, who is known for spamming Wikipedia. He is mathematician, but he is not even in the list of top 100 living Ukrainian mathematicians by h-index, article about him was deleted from English wikipedia beacause of non-notability. --Ilya (talk) 09:56, 5 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
