File:St. Sebastian's Church, Katuwapitiya.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Thanks for uploading File:Saint Sebastian's Church Enderamulla - Aerial view 2024.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

What license does a screenshot from google maps fall in? Is there a different way to put it or are screenshots accepted in wiki commons? VihirLak007 (talk) 15:30, 19 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi yes. Except for the holy family convet image (i scanned from a souvenir book also i think they have it in the website) and the nakulugamuwa post office image, all the rest is my own photos i took throughout years. I see i have licensed them here as my own work but it seems it isnt enough. What are the needed proofs for this. Thanks in advance. Need to work this out since some are needed for few existing articles. Very much appreciate further help VihirLak007 (talk) 16:18, 19 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
You have uploaded quite a number of files copied from the Internet, and claimed them as your owns. So how can we trust you? Please upload the original images with EXIF data, or send a permission via COM:VRT. Thanks, Yann (talk) 17:21, 19 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
i uploaded the above mentioned images i took directly from phone to commons. is there a separate section to fill in the exif data or are they automatically getting entered when uploading the image? Below are definitely some of my originals.

i recently (now) uploaded this file. File:ST SEBASTIANS CHURCH ENDERAMULLA.jpg. Is this done in the correct way? Its a photo from my dslr camera (not a phone pic this time) Is this how it should be done? i uploaded it from UploadWizard. And is there a reason my uploads of photos i take from my phone dont give any exif data? I really apprecitate your kind help. VihirLak007 (talk) 18:29, 19 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
HI again Yann, i went back and read about commons again and i realized how noob i was. As you see all of the nominated files were uploaded in 2022, ALL. now after 2 years and more experience in wikipedia and now that i have re-read the rules and regulations on uploads like this i can assure you less mistakes will be done. Also meantime, can this not be my last warning? Coz i might make mistakes when uploads are done, and will much appreciate guidance rather than being blocked. I have no intention for any invasive uploads. Im still learning and would definitely need guidance on matter like this from experienced users and admins like you. I nominated few images for speedy deletion under G7 an F5. If you can please delete them and other images you nominated too, i really don't need a blackmark being a fraudster here. I really loved contributing to Wikipedia. Ill re upload any images thats in use in articles with quality and legit images with complete Exif data. Really sorry for any inconvenience caused. Thanks for tolerating my mistakes. Also if possible VihirLak007 (talk) 20:22, 19 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Tæm̆bili Pandol 2024 Enderamulla Church Feast.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!
