Thanks for uploading Image:041107.png. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multilicense GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Hi. Regarding this file. Well, i am uploader, creator and creator of that website also. How else can i confirm that? Should i send OTRS? --WhiteWriter speaks 17:52, 22 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Wylve!! SVG of this logo is beautiful! Thank you so much! I would just as you if you can fix that small thing, camera top is below the phoenix, and phoenix should be behind all of the elements. Can you, please? :) :) --WhiteWriter speaks 08:48, 28 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hello Wylve, could you please reload the version of 2. Jun. 2012 under a new name (for example "File:Hexafluorides_18.svg") and revert "File:Hexafluorides.svg" to the first version of Itub (16. Sep. 2008). In the german version we strictly and only want to use the correct and really sure version with sixteen compounds. The rest is more or less quoted as de:WP:TF (Wikipedia:No original research). Thanks a lot --JWBE (talk) 17:12, 23 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hello Wylve, your revert has been reverted again. The way of editing by user:Double sharp ist very close to vandalism, as he has not enough knowledge of chemistry. Could you ask for admin-protection? --JWBE (talk) 19:45, 24 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Can you give strongest colors for this image, and give to me the hexadecimal code ? --Orikrin1998    15:05, 11 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hey. What do you mean by 'strongest' colour? Do you mean red, green, blue, pink, yellow or purple? --Wylve (talk) 15:40, 11 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yes. You see, the colors are too clear. --Orikrin1998    16:38, 11 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
Ok i meant ; can you change the image, changing the colors to better ones. But the hex code is enough (it was'nt not the good code where i saw). Thank you very much, you helped me. --Orikrin1998    17:56, 11 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:

  1. Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
  2. This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.
  3. Users must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another SUL-related Wikimedia project (for other Wikimedia projects, the account must be attached to the user's Commons account through SUL).

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. From professional animal and plant shots to breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historically relevant images, images portraying the world's best architecture, maps, emblems, diagrams created with the most modern technology, and impressive human portraits, Commons features pictures of all flavors.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topic categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you can vote for as many images as you like. The first round category winners and the top ten overall will then make it to the final. In the final round, when a limited number of images are left, you must decide on the one image that you want to become the Picture of the Year.

To see the candidate images just go to the POTY 2012 page on Wikimedia Commons

Wikimedia Commons celebrates our featured images of 2012 with this contest. Your votes decide the Picture of the Year, so remember to vote in the first round by January 30, 2013.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. INeverCry 01:57, 10 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:Test.svg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Dear Wylve:

The Wikimedia Foundation (“Wikimedia”) has taken down content that you posted (see the DMCA noticeboard for more information ) due to Wikimedia’s receipt of a validly formulated notice that your posted content was infringing an existing copyright. When someone sends us a validly formulated notice of copyright infringement, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”) Section (c)(1)(C) requires Wikimedia to take the content down, and to notify you that we have removed that content. This notice, by itself, does not mean that the party requesting that the content be taken down are suing you. The party requesting the take down might only be interested in removing the content from our site.

What Can You Do?

You are not obligated to take any action. However, if you feel that your content does not infringe upon any copyrights, you may contest the take down request by submitting a ‘counter notice’ to Wikimedia. Before doing so, you should understand your legal position, and you may wish to consult with an attorney. If you choose to submit a counter notice, the alleged copyright holder can either refuse to contest the counter notice or decide to file a lawsuit against you to restrain Wikimedia from re-posting the content. Please note that Wikimedia will not be a party to any legal action that arises from you sending a counter notice, and that Wikimedia is unable to provide you with legal advice.

Filing a Counter Notice

If you choose to submit a counter notice, you must send a letter asking Wikimedia to restore your content to legal@wikimedia.org, or to our service processor at the following address: Wikimedia Foundation, c/o CT Corporation System, 818 West Seventh Street, Los Angeles, California, 90017. The letter must comply with DMCA standards, set out in Section (g)(3)(A-D), and must contain the following:

  • A link to where the content was before we took it down and a description of the material that was removed;
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief that the content was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification of the material to be removed or disabled;
  • Your name, address, and phone number;
  • If your address is in the United States, a statement that says “I consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the district where my address is located, and I will accept service of process from the person who complained about the content I posted”; alternatively, if your address is outside the United States, a statement that says “I agree to accept service of process in any jurisdiction where the Wikimedia Foundation can be found, and I will accept service of process from the person who complained about the content I posted”; and finally,
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

Pursuant to the DMCA, Wikimedia must inform the alleged copyright holder that you sent us a counter notice, and give the alleged copyright holder a copy of the counter notice. The alleged copyright holder will then have fourteen (14) business days to file a lawsuit against you to restrain Wikimedia from reposting the content. If Wikimedia does not receive proper notification that the alleged copyright holder has initiated such a lawsuit against you, we will repost your content within ten (10) to fourteen (14) business days.

Miscellaneous

As a matter of policy and under appropriate circumstances, Wikimedia will block the accounts of repeat infringers as provided by Section 512(i)(1)(A) of the DMCA.

If you would like to learn more about Wikimedia’s policies, please refer to the Wikimedia Terms of Use, available at Terms of use, and the Wikimedia Legal Policies, available at m:Legal/Legal_Policies. More information on DMCA compliance may also be found at:

Wikimedia appreciates your support. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions regarding this notice.

Hello Wylve, the following content you uploaded violates one or more of our policies and therefore has been or will soon be deleted:

File:Poon Siu To.jpg

The Wikimedia Commons (this website) only hosts media files with a realistic educational purpose and that can be used for any purpose, including:

  • use in any work, regardless of content
  • creation of derivative works
  • commercial use
  • free distribution

See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons, and Commons:Image casebook for some specific examples. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.

Please make sure that you only upload educational content you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial, to understanding how Wikimedia Commons works. Thanks for your contribution, and please do leave me a message if you have further questions.

Deleted on your request:

Did anyone complain about these images or claim any copyright? I guess, not! Didn't you like the content?

It was not possible to get a OTRS permission because the issuing institution does no longer exist. Not a single user out of tens of thousands of readers since 2008 has ever complained or claimed any copyright before you came and destroyed this useful information. I don't find this a responsible behaviour.

--Furfur Diskussion 14:55, 27 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Furfur: Before you accuse me of being irresponsible, please note that Commons is a repository of freely licensed media. It does not matter whether anyone complained. Copyright infringement is not dependent on any complaint being made. I would love to keep those images online, for they contained valuable information. But as far as I know, these images were not first published on Commons and the uploader was not the copyright holder of these images. The email provided as proof of releasing these images in a Creative Commons license could not be verified. Even if the email was genuine, I do not think the response is sufficient to give legal permission (see Commons:OTRS#E-mail template for release of rights to a file). If you believe that the images should be restored and that there are valid reasons for doing so, then you can file an undeletion request. —Wylve (talk) 16:13, 2 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Well, my point of view is: nullo actore nullus iudex. I don't see any sense in policing around in the Commons in such a way. There are obvious copyright violations and in these cases it is justified and necessary to delete these media quickly. However, there is also a grey zone, where the strict OTRS requirements may not be fulfilled but realistically no person whatsoever will claim any justified copyright. I am especially annoyed that this deletion request came eight years after the images were uploaded and have served a useful purpose all the time since. If it had come a short time after uploading I would have been able to provide the OTRS email. But now, the issuing institution does not exist any longer. --Furfur Diskussion 18:02, 2 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello Wylve, we are aware that using the old installation method of VFC (via common.js, which you are using) may not work reliably anymore and can break other scripts as well. A detailed explanation can be found here. Important: To prevent problems please remove the old VFC installation code from your common.js and instead enable the VFC gadget in your preferences. Thanks! --VFC devs (q) 16:23, 22 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
