Bappa Rawal (c. 8th century) was a king of the Mewar kingdom in Rajasthan, India. The chronicles describe him as a member of the Guhila Clan, and some of them consider him to be the founder of the Guhila dynasty. He is credited with repelling the Arab invasion of India. He was renowned with the name "Maharaja KaalBhoj", which meant a praise for his extremely powerful arms. He is identified as the ruler of the Guhila dynasty, and called by the names KaalBhoja, Shiladitya, Bappa Rawal.[1] Bappa Rawal then led a contingent of strong warriors and chased the Arabs to Iran. He defeated a local vassal of Qasim, Salim, in Ghazni and married his daughter. He left his nephew to rule Ghazni. Maharawal Bappa Rawal defeated Mohammad Bin Qasim, the Islamic attacker on Bharat and chased Arabs up to Iran. On his way back, he erected guard posts at every hundred kilometres manned by Rajput chiefs. This is the reason why Hindus kept Arabs at bay for three hundred years even after Bappa Rawal's death.[2]. According to col. gen. James todd, also known as the Father of History of Rajasthan *Former Rajputana* by the british and many historians - {{Infobox royalty

Bappa Rawal unified the various small kingdoms and augmented a strong Hindu alliance against the Arabs. The Hindu army of Bappa Rawal badly defeated the Arabs and even chased them out of India. These wars were given the name as the "Battle of Rajasthan"

it is believed that Bappa Rawal set up a military base at  Rawalpindi ( province in Pakistan named after him ) and liberated Sindh from Arabs. But the sad part is that the name of this audacious Hindu Rajput king is not known outside the boundaries of Rajasthan

His guts, grit, gallantry were so astonishing that the Arabs were mortally afraid even at the mention of his name. They christened him ‘Hindu invader’! His vast empire extended Sindh, Baluchistan, Ghazni, Kandahar, Khorasan, Turan, Isfahan, Iran in Central Asia!  - source : IJFMR

These kings are still worshipped as 'devtas' In Rajasthan.{{Infobox royalty
