For transactions using credit cards, the cards are charged in U.S. dollars at an exchange rate of 1.1124. This combines the 1.08 rate with an extra 3% service charge. (Credit cards issued by U.S. banks cannot be used in Cuba.)

In March 15th, 2011, the Cuban Government decided to peg the CUC at par with the USD, making it 1 CUC = 1 USD.
