If you have come here to post a long, profane rant about either me or some aspect of Wikipedia, I have no objections, as I think it's helpful to vent sometimes. I ask that you only 1. refrain from making personal attacks about other editors (besides me) and 2. avoid posting anything that might be construed as outing. Other than that, you may freely tell me that some guideline is a "fucking pain in the goddamned ass", or that my work was "a fucking pile of goddamn shit" as long as you have a reason why you think so- personal attacks don't bother me if they are made discussing a legitimate issue. I have no aversion to swearing myself, so don't post anything about me (or anything else, for that matter) that you wouldn't want to hear me say about you (obviously, warnings and the like are exempt from this). I will use your posts as the threshold for any particular conversation- if you ask me to tone down my language, I also have no objections.

Why do I miss someone I never met?

Hi, does your comment about JarlaxleArtemis which includes the words "He's not coming back anytime in the future ..." mean you have information that JarlaxleArtemis is not a current threat? I ask because JzG said the reason for the addition of Breitbart News to the spam blacklist was "... to control massive spamming and disruption by JarlaxleArtemis socks". Peter Gulutzan (talk) 16:47, 5 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Yes, in 2018 he was still active but as of now we have good reason to think he won't be anytime in the near future. Still a good idea to have that on the blacklist though. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 17:28, 5 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
I think "spamming" can be a reason to put on a spam blacklist but "good idea" is insufficient. Is WP:AN an appropriate forum to bring this to? Peter Gulutzan (talk) 17:57, 5 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
It's not a reliable source, and it is used to spread disinformation (and also publishes personal attacks on Wikipedia editors by banned trolls). We're vastly better off without it. If it ever comes off the blacklist it will have to go into an edit filter. The blacklist is more efficient. Guy (help! - typo?) 15:50, 6 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Update: Never mind my question about WP:AN, I've found that the most relevant prior discussion was mainly on a WP:ANI thread so I intend to take it there. Thanks for your clarification. Peter Gulutzan (talk) 20:17, 5 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
No problem. I vaguely remembered it being discussed somewhere, I was looking for that. Glad you found it. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 20:19, 5 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi BotNL, are we seeing another block evasion by Lima16? They've also gone after Magnolia's edits as payback for being reverted. 2601:19E:4180:6D50:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 04:30, 17 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Not sure. From reading Magnolia667's talkpage this account seems to be a bit more willing to take on feedback, but the edits were also less than helpful. I'll keep an eye on it. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 20:26, 17 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Agreed about willingness to engage, which I also noticed. But the edit pattern, article choices and occasional language difficulties ring familiar. As well, they sometimes edit while signed out, as at University of Bridgeport, so those actions can be added for scrutiny, if that's the proper term. 2601:19E:4180:6D50:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 00:01, 18 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
And as I recall, Lima16 initially pretended to accept feedback. 2601:19E:4180:6D50:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 00:02, 18 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Makes sense. If I see any edits similar to the ones this user has just claimed to disavow, it'll be an immediate block. I'm carefully watching now. Thanks for letting me know about this. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 01:47, 18 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. I'm inclined to view edits by new users that don't improve the article [1] as block evasion. There was recently a disagreement about adding a nondescript photo of the aforementioned ferry, and now this non sequitur was added to the intro. 2601:19E:4180:6D50:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 18:53, 18 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello Blade! On your userpage you say that you can help out with transliterations of Japanese. Would you mind helping me out with the Japanese on List of Pokemon characters? Some of the Romaji on the page is simply just what appears to be the translation of the Japanese name rather than the transliteration of the Katakana. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 20:07, 17 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

I'll take a look through when I get a chance, should be in the next day or so. My Japanese is rusty enough that it's probably a tetanus hazard, but I can still handle katakana reasonably well. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 21:29, 17 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I noticed that recently User:Dmhw and User:Freeman6000 have vandalized and blanked several pages regarding the Ming dynasty of China. They have been warned numerous times to stop blanking and removing content from pages, yet they continue to do so. Could you please stop or block them since they are clearly not listening to other users?

Also, their editing habits appear similar to User:Ylogm. For example, Ylogm and Dmhw have similar usernames (string of random letters). They also edit similar articles within a close time interval that few other users edit such as [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7], [8], [9], any many other articles.

These similar editing habits suggest that Ylogm, Dmhw are the same user. After Ylogm was blocked on March 3, 2023, the account Dmhw was created on March 8 to evade the block [10]. Could the vandal Dmhw please be investigated and blocked?

Thank you very much. EchoAyatoZhao53 (talk) 00:57, 24 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • Hey--I can't do all the legwork right now, but I ran a few checks. User:Dmhw is the same as User:Trinh N Hien and User:Freeman6000 and User:CaptainPhilly--and, after I checked a few of them, Ylogm. Blade, I gotta run, but please drop blocks on those accounts and don't be afraid to make them CU blocks. They are all identical. There's also significant logged-out editing, so maybe writing up an SPI and asking a CU for a couple more rangeblocks is appropriate. Sorry I can't do it right now. Drmies (talk) 01:06, 24 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Dmhw / Ylogm is back again under the new account User:Victor Huang Ming, blanking contents from the same pages: [11], [12], [13]. Could this account be stopped as well? Thank you. EchoAyatoZhao53 (talk) 04:41, 25 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi, BotNL, given edit history, and that they're adding content we've seen before with the same sources, I suspect Miston Kun (talk · contribs) is Lima16 (talk · contribs). Your thoughts welcome. Thanks and have a good weekend, 2601:19E:4180:6D50:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 02:24, 8 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Just thought I'd ask if you, as an admin, consider AroDude's behaviour blockable. They're a new editor who's mostly concerned with creating userboxes and making friends rather than building the encyclopedia in my opinion. In the past day they've asked another editor for their age (turned out to be a minor), lied about their age (see same thread, not necessarily against policy AFAIK but just dodgy), and submitted a new editor's sandbox to AfC without talking to them about it beforehand. With still no edits to mainspace or article drafts of their own in their 139 edits so far, considering all the hassle they're causing, I thought I'd ask you if blocking them temporarily makes sense. I don't think ANI, where I'd usually take these issues, is suitable for a new editor like them so I'm asking you as an admin that's recently active. — Ixtal ( T / C ) Non nobis solum. 16:05, 19 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi, sorry I missed this yesterday. I see someone has warned AroDude already, and I think that's sufficient for now; if anything else happens, let me know and I won't hesitate to block. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 12:41, 20 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
They were eventually blocked for socking, weirdly enough both new users they had interacted with are socks of the same master. The wiki never fails to surprise. — Ixtal ( T / C ) Non nobis solum. 13:07, 20 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Mohsin Hani. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Alpha3031 (tc) 12:31, 10 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

I do disagree with a deletion of the article "2023 Billie Jean King Cup Europe/Africa Zone Group I – Pool B" that has sat for a week at two keeps and two deletes and one other editor confused at to why this article should be deleted (without formally saying keep. It finally got another "delete but merge" today after 7 days of nothing and you deleted it? That's not enough consensus in my book to delete an article. This could also be looked at as 3 keeps, 1 merge, and 2 deletes. I wont challenge the full deletion, though I'm disappointed, but I require the contents be put in a sandbox page of mine so I can merge the contents into the main article. Really this should have at the very least been a redirect instead of delete because many other articles just like this exist that it is likely a search term for our readers. Thank you. Fyunck(click) (talk) 01:45, 11 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

I can restore the contents to your sandbox, give me one moment. I wouldn't treat this as a "delete it forever and salt" situation, to be sure, so if a redirect makes sense (this isn't my strongest topic area) I certainly don't object. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 01:51, 11 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Content is now at User:Fyunck(click)/2023 Billie Jean King Cup Europe/Africa Zone Group I – Pool B. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 01:53, 11 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. It's probably 50/50 on the redirect. My only concern would be that I will now be merging the contents of the article into the main article at 2023 Billie Jean King Cup Europe/Africa Zone and the actual wikipedians that created the contents will get no credit for their writing. I would just plop it in as if it were my own creation. With a redirect at least the original creators would still be listed and I can do a proper merge with links back to the redirect page. Fyunck(click) (talk) 02:05, 11 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
If you think that would be the best move, I can restore the history at the redirect. Let me know, that would only take a couple clicks to sort out (I'm on EST, so if I drop off for several hours here I'm not ignoring you). The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 02:51, 11 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I went ahead and merged the contents with the summary saying it was from the deleted article. If it gets redirected I can put the merge info on the redirect talk page and the summary will turn to a blue link rather than a red link. If not it will be a red link that someone can ask to see the contents from an administrator. I'm not sure what's best as my area of expertise is tennis and yours is more on the MOS handling of editor history. Personally I think I redirect to "2023 Billie Jean King Cup Europe/Africa Zone" with a keeping of history is best. Thanks for the help. Fyunck(click) (talk) 02:58, 11 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
You had nearly an entire month to preemptively copy the content to your sandbox while this AFD was running. You “suddenly” being confronted with the content disappeared is mostly only you. Besides how much effort is it really to recreate this BJK Cup results tables somewhere else?? Your frustrated comments here directed at the deleting admin are seriously misplaced. As for the suggestion for a redirect, I seriously doubt that anyone is ever going to type the full “2023 Billie Jean King Cup Europe/Africa Zone Group I – Pool B” in the search box and cannot see this being a valid option. Interested reader are more likely going to go the edition’s main article and then navigate down from there, rather going up from the lowest level. So I think a history merge would be the right course of action here.Tvx1 13:14, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I can do a histmerge as well, this would be a fairly simple one. This isn't really my topic area (I'm a baseball guy first and foremost) so I have no strong feelings. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 14:46, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello, User:Track1News (who appears to be a sockpuppet of User:Jgwikid; see previous discussion on your talk page and an SPI case) has a pattern of feeling like they "own" pages, undoing substantial good edits (other users have also complained) and attacking editors. I'm posting here because you have taken action in the past and also to ask what is the official way of notifying admins of suspected sockpuppets in future when the case has been archived? Thanks. 103.108.229.73 (talk) 23:42, 24 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Dear, you have some kind of mania. You enter unsourced or false information (Bisset here, her 3 tour races and results are not mentioned in the ref. given, or you write nonsense about postponement of nonexistent championships). Some of your edits are in fact "substantial bad edits". You removed info about national titles for Bisset while for all athletes we do mention them in the second paragraph of the lede. You did trim notable info from lede for Ingebrigtsen - he has rather bigger intro as he has a lot of notable achievements, he is not your Catriona Bisset, he is World No. 1.
Both users that you mentioned eventually did thank me because one is doing nonsense for Italian athletes (no competition table updates, Italian style formatting in English Wikipedia, tragic grammar), while second was removing valid national records from records lists, leaving wrong data and not supplying ref.
Sorry for one small Ingebrigtsen revert - I thought his current coach is not the ref. but there is this info. So I am sorry. (I know his brother is coaching him now but we need source for everything).
So please, try to improve your "substantial good edits" and do not trim leads of best world athletes with a lot of titles and achievements. Track1News (talk) 00:50, 25 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi User:Track1News, could you please point me to the guidelines for what should be included in sports ledes? If you're adhering to community standards it would be useful to know. If it's only in your head, perhaps we should find a place to discuss it for future reference. I've been trying to make ledes readable (it is meant to be a summary, not an exhaustive list of all achievements), and in the case of Ingebrigtsen's article, I didn't remove achievements but shifted them to other places in the article (for instance, the Kipchoge pacing appeared only in the lede but not the main article). 103.108.229.73 (talk) 01:07, 25 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hello. Please check Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce by User:Journalist. This is a super star though, 5 world titles - but all important achievements are mentioned in the intro.
There are no guidelines as far as I know but I am updating more than 600 athletes and I'm trying to be consistent for all.
For average runner we mention in the first paragraph: all world and area medals + all world and area records. This is notable enough. (Areas: Europe, North America (NACAC), South America, Asia and Oceania. Oceania is rather small area and not so notable but areas are as recognized by World Athletics.)
For second paragraph we mention world and area U20 and U18 medals, national records and national titles (only titles, not silvers or bronzes).
edit: You can check how it looks like for current combined events stars Anna Hall and Adrianna Sułek. For comparison two-time Olympic champions and world champions: Faith Kipyegon or Shaunae Miller-Uibo.
Then there are some world best athletes who made notable (first in history or while the youngest in history) doubles or triples like Sifan Hassan, Laura Muir, Femke Bol or Jakob Ingebrigtsen - info about these achievements is also notable enough for first or second paragraph.
BTW. You are more than welcome to edit Ingebrigtsen as he has very poor article - it was not updated and written on time by people and now is rather empty. I limited myself just to good personal bests table, some most important info in the body of the article and photos. His intro probably could be condensed a little but carefully as he is No. 1 with many notable doubles and "firsts".
And sorry for this small Ingebrigtsen revert - I will add later info about his current coach or you will do it. Track1News (talk) 11:21, 25 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
edit: And as you are from Australia, please update also Jessica Hull (she had very poor article), Ollie Hoare and others..., not only Bisset ;) because you are the first to wise up and not so first to do real, hard job of constant updates.
I'm a bit strapped for time right now, so I can't take a deep dive. If you think this is a sock account, start an investigation at sockpuppet investigations. In the meantime, for any content disputes take it to the talkpage. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 14:01, 25 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi! A couple of days ago you blocked 2001:268:9800::/40 for persistently adding unsourced content, after my report on WP:ANI. I notice that two new IPs have appeared, making very much the same edits to the same articles as the blocked IP:

133.32.22.193 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)

39.110.250.214 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)

Neither one has made a huge number of edits yet, but all their edits are very similar to those of the blocked IP. This is particularly evident on Matsuzaka Generation. I suspect the blocked editor is evading the block. CodeTalker (talk) 17:47, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

I blocked the IP that most recently edited and rolled back what I could, let me know if more show up. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 20:50, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi, sorry to bother you again, but this persistent editor seems to have reappeared again, this time with a new account User:MasaoOhba1949. This account has repeated the same edits to Matsuzaka Generation and other articles that the blocked IP has edited. I wonder if some of these articles should be protected as well as blocking the socks. CodeTalker (talk) 17:11, 1 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
No problem. User blocked, I semiprotected Matsusaka Generation; let me know what else I should hit and I will. If it continues after that, take it to requests for page protection and someone more experienced at this than me can take a look (page protection isn't my strongest suit, though I know enough that this needs it). The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 22:46, 1 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi! As I can see you have deleted the K_Annamalai article. The K._Annamalai article still exists. You deleted the ex-IPS officer's wikipage citing that he is a "non-notable person". This is absolutely preposterous and quite frankly malicious too. The current person (ex-MLA from 2001) at K._Annamali is the real insignificant personality, who is vastly unrecognized and with only 2 citations supporting the entire article. Applying your logic why isn't that article deleted too? On the other hand, the K. Annamalai(ex-IPS officer) is notable leader in the vibrant political gamut of India with numerous citaions to prove his prominence. Now you tell me, what the problem is with creating an article in his name. ChaitanyaJo (talk) 08:31, 10 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

I want to submit an official investigation into what happened today regarding the two articles Draft:Khaled Al Saif, Draft:Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City and either the result of the investigation is that I am guilty and I am banned from editing on Wikipedia, or that the editors who treated me disrespectfully apologize to me and take back the article and a clear and frank apology on my talk page.

What happened was the clear disregard of the editors for people's minds and the use of their absolute power and acting as if Wikipedia belonged to them after fulfilling the conditions for the articles and talking to the help section in Wikipedia, and in the end they agreed with me on the note of the two articles. The editors come here and their words and their dealings differ. After advising the user @DoubleGrazing to apply for a revision of the draft to become an article, he deletes the draft and recklessly thinks about it. Is this a trap or what? After adding all the sources they want, he says that this is a paid article. As for the second article, he did not find anything that says except that this article was written by me in a publicity way. Deleting it from the beginning of the post I will not be sad, but I am saddened by the lack of respect he found here. I don't care about the two articles as much as I care about a clear and frank apology.

Here the answer from the User and the advice from him. John.GGVV (talk) 19:38, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hey, while I don't have any issue with the 500/6month sanction, the subject area of "Serbian and Croatian topics" seems to be a bit off the mark given that their disruptive editing has purely focused on Bosniak identity, and to a significant degree in the context of immigrant enclaves outside of former Yugoslavia. Beyond being somewhat inadequate, the mix up could be seen as insulting by them. signed, Rosguill talk 14:04, 3 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello Blade. I've never had a Wikipedia account before but I felt compelled to create one tonight just to give you congratulations on your work on Genie (feral child). On 4 June (same day Susan Curtiss first met her) of this year, a friend and I were having a chat about similarly abused children and he sent me the Wikipedia page on Genie. I read the entire thing within a couple hours. By the end, I was crying. I am not a very emotional person but this story reached out and touched me profoundly. I have never read such an impactful Wikipedia article in my life, and dare I say, it changed my life. The photograph of her face they used in all the newspapers at the time is still seared into my brain with a hot branding iron. What a haunting expression.

I've since purchased and read books about her and other isolated children, among other interesting sources I've found. I've read some of the previous topics in this Talk page and I've glanced over your thousands of edits over the past decade on Genie's article. I think it's safe to say that you've forgotten more about her story than I'll ever learn. I can't imagine the effect it's had on you. It's such a complex mixture of emotions her story evokes in me, but they are all very strong emotions. Anyway, I heavily related with everything you've had to say about her over the years and it makes me feel a lot better knowing that I'm not alone in this regard. Over 10 years after your work began on this article, and over 50 years after Genie was rescued from such unfathomable conditions, there are still people like me who are learning about her for the first time, and her article is the perfect place to start. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your devotion, commitment, and contributions to her article, and by extension, I feel, to her very legacy. MrXenon1993 (talk) 04:31, 18 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! Yes, it was (and to an extent remains) quite an undertaking, and was some of the hardest research I've ever done, but I'm glad for all the time I put into it. For all that's there, some of the details that aren't are just as if not more horrific, and that's just from what's publicly available; goodness knows what the doctors and the research team found out while working with her. Knowing that more people can learn about her case from my work is very satisfying, and I'm glad you got so much out of it! The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 17:02, 18 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yes, some of the lesser-known details of abuse I've come across are absolutely horrifying. I can't imagine some of the stories Susan Curtiss had heard but elected not to share.
I have a couple of small edit suggestions (I would do them myself but I can't). First of all, your final edit on 6 September left the sentence "...since she her brain activity was so right-hemisphere dominant". The "she" should be removed.
Second of all, I tried to find this bit in the revision history of the English page but I failed. I didn't even know this existed until I checked the Spanish and French pages. There's an American indie rock band called Killjoy Confetti who released an album in 2006. One of the songs on this album is called Crooked Teeth, and the lyrics are about Genie. I think it would be a good inclusion to the Media category of the English page, and I'm kinda surprised I didn't see it there before. Maybe there's a reason for its exclusion, I'm not sure.
Thank you so much for your time and response! MrXenon1993 (talk) 17:24, 18 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Good to know. I'm just about to fix the grammar issue, and when I have some more time I'll look into the song. Much appreciated! The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 17:54, 18 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Found this highly offensive and unproffesional of you. I fought a lot of vandalists in Wikipedia and spent a lot of hours in monitoring. None of my edits are for a "game" purpose, I am editing also regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but I never did anything for a bad cause, tilted a vote, attacked or violated anything. I even got a barnstar for monitoring vandalism. Where did assuming good intentions gone? You are just gonna block anyone without even hearing all sides? dov (talk) 17:42, 26 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

You began patrolling right after this, to get enough edits as quickly as possible. After reaching 500 edits you stopped. Rushing edits as quick as possible just to get a permission is gaming. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 18:03, 26 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I didn't stop, I just continued participating in discussions which I'm allowed to do even without any permissions. Again this is an assumption of bad faith, even though that my edits are not bad faith or "fake edits", I also didn't stop monitoring, I did become more invested in recent events but not because of reaching anything, I also barely used my permission on anything. The timing of Nableezy's allegations were after me confronting him of being not respectful towards other users in talk pages, this on the other hand is bad faith and not communal behavior. I have contributed to the Wikimedia project in general for years, through Wikicommons, Wikidata and through other languages of Wikipedia, and I take an assumption like this of bad faith in a really personal manner. Never mistreated anybody and never talked to anybody agressively or badly.
I ask for the ban to be cancelled, if you see I abuse by any means the "granted permissions" sure, take them away. Good intention is not there for fun, it's there for better community. Blocking a person and saying their edits are fake or rushed to go fight over some conflict is not assuming good intentions. dov (talk) 18:18, 26 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I was hoping you could let me know what I did wrong with my draft for REDCOM's entry. I had disclosed my relationship with REDCOM on my page and was attempting to make it as unbiased as possible. The intention was just to create an entry for the company and nothing more. Would you be willing to explain what I did wrong or how I can go about getting REDCOM an entry? Because I thought I was taking all the necessary steps to post the entry as a paid editor.

Thanks. RedcomEthan (talk) 18:59, 19 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

FYI; not sure if this is worthy of a thread to WP:ANI, if only for more eyes. Thoughts? OhNoitsJamie Talk 18:31, 28 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

It looks like it's under control enough for now, but definitely going to keep an eye on it too. If it gets much bigger or more persistent I'd start something. You sometimes wonder... The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 19:08, 28 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi (first of all 10/10 username cool af) Just looking for some advice.. I have worked quite extensivley on the page De'Anyers family, another user had nominated it for deletion and I have tried to engage in discussion as I would really much rather do this and try and reach a consensus rather than see it removed entirley. I believed that the article was extremely sufficently sourced and despite having a larger number of sources several of which were part of wider publications with brief mentions of my topic, this was mitigated by several well known, referenced and impartial genealogical sources used on many many other pages .... anyway wont go into a spiel here as have done so already on the discussion.

My issue is I have had no engagment at all from this user who has shown no interest in stating specifics and discussing what could be changed !! I have tried to do this on the deletion discusison to no avail and radio silence as well as a message on the users talk page which they deleted.

I am not overly familiar with the deletion voting/consensues structure and could do with some advice please feel free to respond via here i'd really apprecciate it :)) really coming down to it I think looking at the bibliography there isn't a cause at all for deletion nomination in the first place (do see my info on the discussion - happy to go into specifics and answer any questions) I write academically in the field of early modern history outside of wikipedia !! Just want to know if an admin or whoever can intervene or have a look over, I don't know.

Thanks for reading all best, .. Stark :)) Starktoncollosal (talk) 18:54, 23 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, The Blade of the Northern Lights,

To be honest, I'm surprised, after more than 18 years of editing, that this editor has been blocked. I think much of what they did was productive editing. They just drove other editors nuts by refusing to communicate when they had questions about their editing decisions. Does this mean that all of the IP accounts that are associated with their editing can be blocked for block evasion should they reappear? Although they used to do general editing of all types, these days they are easy to spot because all they do is categorize articles and categories.

It's been a while since I posted here so I hope you had a good summer and are doing well. Liz Read! Talk! 20:32, 18 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi. First off I'm doing fine, and hope you are as well. This is a classic "indefinite doesn't mean infinite" situation, so if there's any openness to communication you (or any other admin) can unblock without consulting me. But going back to doing exactly what lead to the block, except with IPs, is straight up block evasion. I'm not the best with categories (as I learned in dramatic fashion when helping clean up the gigantic mess that was longevity articles), and I know that sometimes blindly reverting can create issues of its own, so discretion is advised. But I'd definitely like to get a response from DinosaursLoveExistence and get an unblock. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 23:54, 18 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
