Note

  1. ^ Certain award groups do not simply award one winner. They acknowledge several different recipients, have runners-up, and have third place. Since this is a specific recognition and is different from losing an award, runner-up mentions are considered wins in this award tally. For simplification and to avoid errors, each award in this list has been presumed to have had a prior nomination.

This is a wholly, collective list of Filipino Emmy Award, Grammy Award, Academy Award (Oscar), and Tony Award winners and nominees where non-traditional artists, both naturalized (people born and/or raised in the Philippines) and international co-citizenship (people born outside of Philippines who are still considered Filipino citizens), or Philippine media production companies who achieve these one or all of four separate accolades where they were won or nominated individually or altogether.

More than thirty people of Filipino ancestry, mostly Filipino-Americans, are received multiple wins and nominations across all four annual awards throughout their careers. Artists including Bruno Mars, Robert Lopez and Lea Salonga were among the most notable examples.

Notable milestones

Larry Ramos

Filipino-American guitarist, banjo player and vocalist Larry Ramos.

Hilario D. "Larry" Ramos Jr. is the earliest Filipino-American to be nominated and to win any one of four major accolades; he is the first and, so far, only Asian-American and Filipino in the 1960s to be nominated six categories out of seven Grammy nominations solely, four of which defunct while the remaining two were active, winning one for Best Performance by a Chorus for his work of Presenting The New Christy Minstrels with his American folk music group of the same name.[69][70]

Lea Salonga

Filipina singer and actress Lea Salonga.

Lea Salonga is the first Asian and Filipina to win the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance of Kim. Additionally, she is the second youngest overall and the youngest Asian-born recipient to win at the age of 20.[18]

Robert Lopez

Filipino-American singer-songwriter Robert Lopez.

Robert Lopez is one of only nineteen people, and the only Filipino, to have won at least one Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony (EGOT). He is also the youngest person EGOT winner and achieved the accomplishment in shortest period of time of any EGOT winner: he won in all four categories in the span of ten years at the age of 39.[citation needed] He is also the only person to have won all four awards more than once, having won four Emmys, three Grammys, two Oscars and three Tonys.[71]

His second set of wins in all four categories began with 37th Daytime Emmy Awards and concluded with 90th Academy Awards, establishing a new fastest EGOT record of 7 years and 8 months.[72]

Jhett Tolentino

Filipino producer Jhett Tolentino.

Jhett Tolentino is the first Filipino-born to win both a Tony and Grammy award as a theater producer, with each categories from the former including Tony Award for Best Musical and Best Play while the latter including Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.[73][74][75][76][77]

Notes

  1. ^ Conferido and Sandoval are the only two members of Quest Crew to be claimed as Filipino-Americans, so they are included in a list.
  2. ^ The film is an international-co-production of USA, UK, and The Philippines, and is primarily shot in Bulacan, Philippines, produced by Australian filmmaker and international producers. While the filmmaker and producers were all non-Filipinos, Alikpala is the only Filipina as a producer for her work.[24]
  3. ^ Co-produced with Studio Gale, Big Crunch Entertainment, and Korea Educational Broadcasting System.
  4. ^ Tish Tash is an international-co-production series of Philippines, Malaysia, and South Korea.[34]
  5. ^ As a matter of fact, the category was unknown at the time in the 1980s or wasn't introduced until 2005 due to lack of international sources. According to some Philippine sources, Locsin wasn't the first time ever to be nominated with that category but back in the 1980s, Tomas was actually nominated for the first time in history, along with two or four unknown nominees, but it lost to the fellow nominee.[36][37]
