FPV foreshadowed its intention to enter the SUV scene with the "P-SUV" concept car displayed at its Open Day in February 2007. This vehicle featured a pick-up body style and aggressive off-road styling.<ref>{{cite web |url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/aussiefordadverts/5088971560/in/album-72157630235692038 |title = 2007 Ford FPV Territory P-SUV Concept {{!}} This is the Ford Per… {{!}} Flickr|date = 19 December 2009}}</ref> The final F6X concept was otherwise displayed at the October 2007 [[Australian International Motor Show]] in Sydney.

Aside from its high-performance engine, its other key features included 18-inch wheels, upgraded front Brembo brakes, and fittings such as seating (optional third row seat) and instrumentation styled to mirror those of the FPV sedans. Despite this, the lack of sufficient external differentiation with the donor Territory Turbo, its high price of {{AUD|75990}} and poor fuel consumption translated into a low sales success, with a total of 251 units built.<ref>{{cite web | last1 = Stanford | first1 = James | last2 = Pettendy | first2 = Marton | date = 27 February 2009 | url = http://www.goauto.com.au/mellor/mellor.nsf/story2/2631BCFF080799AECA25756A00440CED | title = FPV axes F6X as new Territory engines stall | work = GoAuto | access-date = 7 March 2011}}</ref> As a consequence, production ceased in February 2009 and it was no longer available with the SY II series launched in JuneMay 2009.

The F6X colour range included: Ego, Winter White, Lightning Strike, Nitro, Seduce, Sensations, Silhouette and Velvet. Depending on the exterior paint chosen, each had the option of one of two stripe packages in metallic Azure Blue, Pewter or Silver and matte Black. It also featured [[Datadot#Microdot identification|datadot]] paint technology.
