Career
On March 12, 2021, in Fayetteville, Arkansas on the occasion of the 2021 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships, in a few hours he sets personal records in the high jump with 2.30 m and in the long jump with 8.45 m, for another best measure in the world in 2021, thus becoming the first man in history capable of jumping at least 8.40 m in the long jump and 2.30 m in the high jump.[4] This feat is somewhat reminiscent of that of Jesse Owens, passed to the history as day of days, who on May 25, 1935, established four world records in a few hours.[5]
On June 27, 2021, he won both the long jump and the high jump at the US National Team Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon. If he competes in both events at the delayed 2020 Summer Games he would become the first American man since Jim Thorpe in 1912 to compete in the both the long jump and high jump at the Olympics.[6]
