Knapton is a place in the civil parish of Scampston, in North Yorkshire, England. It is situated between the hamlets of East Knapton and West Knapton.

History

The Domesday Book records that in 1066, Alwin held the manor. In 1086 the lordship had passed to Richard, son of Herfast.

Parish

Previously also a parish, it was abolished and merged with Scampston on 1 April 1935.[1] The parish church was the Church of St Edmund, located in the grounds of Knapton Hall.
