In 2011, a nearly 85,000-square-foot mural was completed along the sides of the airport parking garages that face I-95. The design includes images taken from photographs of Philadelphians dancing by local photographer JJ Tiziou. More than 800 people painted the mural over four months.<ref>{{Cite web|title=Public Art Network Year in Review Database|url=https://www.americansforthearts.org/by-program/networks-and-councils/public-art-network/public-art-year-in-review-database/how-philly-moves|access-date=January 4, 2022|website=americansforthearts.org|date=May 15, 2019 }}</ref><ref>{{Cite web|title=How Philly Moves |url=https://www.phl.org/at-phl/art-exhibitions/node/288|access-date=January 4, 2022|website=www.phl.org}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web|last=Booker|first=Bobbi|title=Airport engages mural art with 'How Philly Moves'|url=https://www.phillytrib.com/lifestyles/airport-engages-mural-art-with-how-philly-moves/article_72c36827-13c7-5e91-88a1-210b228feb85.html|access-date=January 4, 2022|website=The Philadelphia Tribune|date=October 20, 2011 |language=en}}</ref>

On November 14, 2019, after a five-year project, extended Runway 27L was dedicated and opened for operations.
