:Coal town guy Always nice to hear from you. WP:AFD/GEO has been a busy place and GNIS is being challenged, but I'm not sure all the nominators are doing their homework. Let me share a good one with you. A few days ago Centerville, Alpine County, California popped up for AfD, and after doing a bit of research I expanded the article well into notability. But I didn't add a "keep" vote to the AfD; I wanted to wait a bit and see if anyone actually read the article before voting. It's all good fun. Nice to see you back on here and I hope the warmer weather does good things for your health. Cheers! Magnolia677 (talk) 16:56, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

:Hi, you wrote "Hog Rock is an unincorporated community" but I see no community at the given coordinates, no appearance on any topo map or archives, and GNIS even calls it a locale. It cites Rennick but Kentucky Place Names doesn't mention it. Hmmm yeah I wonder why articles are being deleted. Best wishes for your health though, stay safe from those hornet nests and snakes! ::Millions and Millions of years ago, a group of folks sat down and bought map databases. AND there were lots of them. Some were just scanned hand made maps. Some were sophisticated maps created from surveyors, some were stolen from many other companies etc etc. Well, here is a shocker, since all the databases were different, some folks did not include locations on their maps. Why? Well they had no clue at all about the local places or culture so they just used what they had. Honest. I used to test GPS devices, and coupled with the places I have been, some of those devices dont function well. Why? Because they bought the cheapest data they could and stuck it out there as a database for their product.AND that data is incomplete. Ever been to a non existent place on a GPS? We all have. Does that mean it does not exist? NO. Does that mean its not notable? NO. It means that the data you can access does not mention it. It means the data is incomplete. SO, the better route is to GUESS that these places dont exist and they are not noteworthy.....BECAUSE you cant find data......Lets use that logic shall we? Your neighbors land, which had rare historical artifacts on it, is not on your GPS. Although there are teams toiling on his land, researching all the obscure records they can find, NO MATTER. Your GPS has said its not there, ergo, who cares? My oh my thats solid thinking<span style="font-weight:bold;font-style:MS Sans Serif;color:#FF0000">Coal town guy </span> <span style="font-style:MS Sans Serif;color:#581845">(talk)</span> 15:00, 14 May 2020 (UTC)
