In reference to the tag "Advertisement-like" that you had applied to the Wells International School article:

I removed several sentences that may have been perceived as advertising or promotion, as the article had been tagged as such. These deletions should be sufficient to prevent further tagging, particularly considering the similar wording in other articles regarding schools in Thailand that have *not* been tagged as self-promoting:

From Thai-Chinese International School: "The students are motivated, hardworking, flexible, and quick to adapt to new environments."

From Chiang Mai International School: "CMIS remains committed to its first priority of serving the educational needs of missionary families, while welcoming international children from a variety of backgrounds, cultures and religious beliefs."

From International School Bangkok: "The school buildings were destroyed, a number of children and parents died, and many more were left homeless. Rescuing the school and community became a massive endeavor. The International School Bangkok community raised funds and helped rebuild the school to create a learning environment well beyond the one that previously existed. At the same time, faculty and other associates recognized the need for long-term continuous support of the students." The "campus is nestled in the western style community of Nichada Thani, in Nonthaburi Province. Owing to the centralized location, many of the students walk or ride their bicycle or motor scooter to school."

From Lanna International School: "Lanna believes that the diversity of its student body is one of its greatest strengths, supporting the school's mission to prepare its students to be responsible world citizens." The article on Lanna also describes the mission statement and philosophy in highly idealized language with no reference to an outside source.

From the New International School of Thailand: "There are many classrooms, all with bright windows. The computer labs are well equipt [sic] with 2007 Microsoft and carts with tablets (a kind of laptop that can be controlled by a stylus) are used around the school. The canteen is double story with a variety of choices ranging from Asian to sandwiches to western. Other facilities include a well set out playground with shading and hopscotch and much loved four-square painted around a central oval. Just over the road is a well used tuck shop (not part of the school grounds) and a small cafe outside the school entrance with coffees and cakes."

From Ruamrudee International School: "The top 10 graduating seniors usually receive admission to Ivy League schools as well as elite liberal arts colleges; scholarships are often a part of the admissions package."

These statements most often do not possess citations, unlike the article on Wells. To say that statements such as "a much loved four-square," "the diversity of its student body is one of its greatest strengths," and "students are motivated, hardworking, flexible, and quick to adapt to new environments" are appropriate, yet cited claims about Wells International School are not, is utterly ludicrous. Should you not tag the above articles in the same manner in which you had tagged Wells, I will simply restore the portions I had deleted until they are also changed.

Finally, I am an employee of Wells, yet I only created the article because one did not yet exist. I furthermore made every attempt to present the school in a balanced manner and avoid self-promotion whenever possible. When referencing accomplishments, I made sure to cite the source, unlike the claims made in the above articles. To single out Wells' description as being overly self-promoting is most certainly unbalanced and inappropriate.

Hi. I've deleted the redirect article at "Chatuchak Weekend Market" per your speedy deletion request and moved the full article "Chatuchak weekend market" there instead. So what was

  • Chatuchak Weekend Market → Chatuchak weekend market

is now

  • Chatuchak weekend market → Chatuchak Weekend Market

Hope that's what you were after! If not, give me a shout on my talkpage. Tonywalton Talk 14:02, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

We, as a member of the project. I would like to describe you about these subcategories, like Pin Malakul, he is Mom Luang, he is a member of the House of Malakul, and moreover, he is a member of Chakri Dynasty, although he is not the royalty, he is a nobility who descent from the dynasty. The descend royal houses which are subcategories, are the categories for the members of those houses. Like, the House of Malakul catogory: M.L. Pin is a member, but not the only one member of that house. Means there are many royalties and nobilities who are members of those house. Means that the articles and categories are not complete. We are in creating the articles about those houses, including the Malakuls. If you are still not understand, you can see the Thai nobilities' article like Adulakit Kitiyakara, Busba Kitiyakara, Kukrit Pramoj, Seni Pramoj, etc. Every nobilities' articles, Mom Rajawongse and Mom Luang are the part of the dynasty also. Must have a Chakri Dynasty category also. But the houses are contain only member of those houses.

Wish you are understand... --Monarchians (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 15:06, 3 September 2009 (UTC).

We, as a member of the project. I would like to dercribe you that all the articles and categories including the subcateogries are not completed yet. We are creating them to be complete. If they are successful completed, you might understand better. I would like to tell you that if those Mom Rajawongse and Mom Luang nobilities' articles are not in the Chakri Dynasty category, how do the reader know that they are the part of the dyansty. Because they are descend from the dynasty, must be in the main dynasty category, and seperate in their own royal house, which belong to the dynasty main category also. So the reader will know those nobilities members is from the dynasty and which houses they are from. We are going to created more royal houses subcategories soon, thank you for your attention... --Monarchians (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 08:50, 4 September 2009 (UTC).

Problem solved, should have thought about it the first time... Sodacan (talk) 11:25, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

I noticed that you had nominated this image for deletion. However, I am afraid that your rationale - "it neither clearly shows the appearance nor the workings of the device" - is mistaken, since the image clearly shows the appearance of the device (the soldier is holding it in his left hand) and its mode of operation, which an image of the device on its own will not illustrate. It doesn't show any workings because the device doesn't have any workings - it's just an empty plastic shell. I've modified the fair use rationale accordingly. -- ChrisO (talk) 11:50, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

What I meant was that due to the required low image resolution, the image didn't show the appearance of the device in a way that significantly helped the reader's understanding beyond that provided by the article text. My impression of the policy is that if the reader could gain the same information from the article text alone, then the image probably shouldn't be used. --Paul_012 (talk) 12:19, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for the DYK!

Except for the grammar and general English, what else does the article need to make it at least a B-Class? content-wise? Sodacan (talk) 12:28, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

A map would be useful. With some supporting material and corrections this should easily be B-class, IMO. Also, if the article title uses Burmese instead of Burmo- I think the hyphen should probably be replaced with an en dash. --Paul_012 (talk) 12:41, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, I was planning to make a map of the routes taken by the Burmese army, with all the towns mentioned within. Where can I get the article copyedited language-wise? Sodacan (talk) 12:46, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
There's WP:COPYEDITORS, but seeing as the queue is quite backlogged, I'll take a close look at it in a few days, if others haven't already. --Paul_012 (talk) 14:56, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

--Pawyilee (talk) 09:19, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

Do you have any references for this article? Regards, PDCook (talk) 16:59, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Basically no. The article was created off the top of my head to avoid a redirect/disambiguation problem. I don't expect there are many sources discussion floating markets on their own merit, independently of specific tourist attractions. --Paul_012 (talk) 17:53, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
So you are saying that the article is entirely original research? PDCook (talk) 17:56, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
No. I am saying that the article is a stub, meaning it needs to be improved in every way, including adding citations. (As a matter of fact, I am of the opinion that tagging stubs with cleanup templates is redundant.) I was also thinking along the lines of Wikipedia:You don't need to cite that the sky is blue, although it may be argued that parts of the stub may not constitute common knowledge, but this does not contradict my first point. --Paul_012 (talk) 18:09, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
I understand your position. The article mentioned something about one of the markets being very commonly known; I figured that should be referenced. I can look around for references, but I'm not very familiar with the topic. Regards, PDCook (talk) 18:16, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for finally creating this article! it has been on my to-do list literally for years. Calliopejen1 (talk) 05:20, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Paul, How can I report probable vandalism by User:Rak-Tai in the Ko Lan page?Xufanc (talk) 08:22, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

  • Vandalism? Get real! My changes were both logical and verifiable. You and Xyfranc need to stop your harassment. The changes I have made are well supported. Please exercise some restraint in your judgments of reasonable edits. Any reasonable scholar will recognize a reasonable edit. รัก-ไทย (talk) 17:25, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
I agree that edit wars cannot occur with only one engaged editor. That is why I used the word "probable". I created the article, including taking the pictures, long ago and I was not approached regarding the "reasonable" changes. If I would go to an article that another Wiki user would have invested time in and started stepping on his toes without any consideration, I should not be surprised if I would be not looked upon favorably. Thank you for your mediation.Xufanc (talk) 19:48, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Materialscientist (talk) 12:19, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your message Paul. I will look to include references in the articles, but I' must stress that all clubs I have created will be entered in the Thai FA Cup that starts in May(?).

There are of course many more Thai teams that don't have a wiki page because they do not feature in the current Thai football structure. Look at the 2009 Thai FA Cup which will show you teams that have not yet got a article. I know many people could challenge the page created, but it is not impossible for any of these teams to play in the top tier, so a few tweaks here and there should make the articles worthwhile. They might not eb major players in the game now, but they could be. Druryfire (talk) 10:15, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

Dear Paul,

The news item states that the Constitutional Court of Thailand found Thaksin guilty, but its not its the Supreme Court of Thailand (San Dika), which does not have an article of its own. These are the sources BBC and the Nation. I don't know how to get it changed.

Personal blogs are not verifiable sources. See Wikipedia:Verifiability. Also, you are messing up the article history. You improperly renamed the article and performed a cut-and-paste move, which needs to be fixed. Please refrain from editing until the issue is sorted out. --Paul_012 (talk) 11:43, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

The point is unchanged. The cut-and-paste move has to be fixed, so please wait. Take the time to look at WP:V, you will find why the blog is not a reliable source. --Paul_012 (talk) 11:54, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Midnight Radio and Television

I just checked and saw you reverted again - the "Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV)" content, which you restored, is clearly wrong - it isn't even the right title! There is a separate Myanmar Radio and Television article. The editor has provided one reference now (it's not a good one - it's a blog, but he's trying). If you'll stop reverting to an obviously-wrong version, I'll help with the article myself and will look for references. (And if you don't, you're in danger of falling foul of edit-warring yourself - if you disagree with the editor's actions and with my opinions, you should discuss it on the Talk page rather than edit war with him) -- Boing! said Zebedee 11:59, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Tell you what, how about both people stop this? - I'll start a section in the Talk page to discuss it, where the current disagreement can be discussed. How does that sound? -- Boing! said Zebedee 12:01, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Please. Look at the article history. The article was improperly renamed, and what I am trying to do is effectively keep the IP editor from further editing on the wrong article. A move revert request is pending to fix the article history. Then we can talk about whether a "Midnight Radio and Television Station" even exists. --Paul_012 (talk) 12:02, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Phra Mae Thorani was speedily deleted this month by a drive-by sniper. Both its revision history and 220px-Maithorani.jpg image are lost, though I have a htm copy from Aug 2010. 16 January I started a "new" article of the same name, and 01:35, 17 January 2011, User:Visik added

Don't know if he was the speedy deleter, but the talk page opened with your tag 14:32, 7 June 2009 Paul 012 (WPThai) and subsequent posts only by me. I wish you'd to go to the new article, then download ref 2 Guthrie, Elizabeth (2004). Abstract:

This study commenced during a visit to Cambodia in 1994 when I became intrigued by statues and paintings of a beautiful young woman wringing water from her long hair under the Buddha's throne. I learned that her name was "Lady Earth," that she was associated with both the earth and the water, and that she received a cult. I also discovered that her story was part of the Buddha's biography. Just prior to the Enlightenment, Mara the evil one tried to prevent the Bodhisattva from reaching his goal. During his struggles with Mara, the Bodhisattva touched the earth (the bhamispariamudra) and called on the earth to be his witness against Mara. Although no textual source for the hair-wringing earth deity has yet been identified outside of mainland Southeast Asia, her iconography and story are too ancient and widely distributed across the cultures of the mainland to be attributed to one particular location. Today the earth deity can be found guarding the vajrasana in Arakan, Burma, Cambodia, Kampuchea Krom, Central and Northern Thailand, Laos, and Sipsong Panna in Yunnan.

It has been necessary to devise a methodology that can cope with the many different countries, cultures, languages where the earth deity is found. I have found that focusing on the motif of the earth deity, in Buddhist art, the Buddha's biographical tradition, and performative texts (donative inscriptions, sadhana, paritta, mantra, yantra) is an effective strategy. I also look at myths and stories about the earth deity and aspects of the contemporary cult of the earth deity gleaned from fieldwork in Cambodia and Thailand.

Of particular interest as to her methodology is this footnote:

'The earth deity's name changes in different countries, but is generally a form of a word for "earth," i.e. Pṛthivī, Kṣiti, Dharaņī, Vasundharā, and so on. In Cambodia the earth deity is known simply by her title: nāń gańhīń (pronounced "neang kongheng") from nāń, "lady," and gańhīń, a Khmer word for "princess." In the Tai regions she is known as Nang Thoranee or Mae Thoranee: "lady earth" or "mother earth." In Burma and Arakan she is Vasundharā (transliterated variously as Wathundari, Wathundaye, Vasundari, and so on). Sometimes she is given the epithet Sundarī, "beautiful one," or Vanitā, "dear one." I use the name Vasundharā in this dissertation for consistency, but the reader should keep in mind that this particular form of the earth deity's name is unknown in Thailand or Cambodia.

What to you think of substantially revising the article as Vasundharā, with multiple WP tags, re-directs from all of the above, and a slew of categories? As for me, I'm retired and no longer work for a living, but I'm 71 and losing it. --Pawyilee (talk) 05:45, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
