Hello to those who would read this page. Sometimes, I find myself filled with disgust and loathing for the over-editing that occurs on Wikipedia. Sure, the ediors to an excellent job of filtering garbage - but why delete articles concerning existing bands wihout doing any research? Is this pure laziness - or arrogance?

Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as Empire On Fire, to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Will (aka Wimt) 16:26, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

The article Empire On Fire has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. You've got the rules backwards. It's not our responsibility to "disprove the band's existence". It's your job to show that the band is notable (see WP:MUSIC) and to support that assertion with reliable sources. NawlinWiki 16:28, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

The point is that the band is not notable, and does not belong here. Please click on this to see what it takes to be considered "notable" by the Wikipedia community. Wikidan829 16:28, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

As I Lay Dying fits our notability criteria. They are very well known, unlike Empire On Fire. They go on international tours, get radio play, signed, etc. You cannot compare the two bands. Furthermore, myspace is not accepted as a reliable source. Wikidan829 16:33, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

You have as much right to suspend 'Empire On Fire' as you do 'As I Lay Dying' or 'Unearth'. Please visit www.myspace.com/empireonfire to recieve sufficient evidence of our existence. - Or else delete As I Lay Dying's page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Refusedalways (talkcontribs).

Hey there. You seem to be rather confused about why your page is being deleted. Firstly, the reason I tagged it for deletion was that the only content whatsoever on the page at that time was a sentence saying the page shouldn't be deleted. Secondly, with regards to why the full article on your band has been deleted on a number of occasions, it is not because we don't believe it exists. However, just because something exists does not mean it deserves an article on Wikipedia (for example, I exist and I don't have an article on myself). Bands must be sufficiently notable in order to have an article on Wikipedia, and this notability must be referenced with reliable, independent sources. In the case of your band, this simply wasn't the case. Furthermore, in relation to your point about As I Lay Dying, the fact that another page exits is not a reason to keep your page. Moreover that band does seem to have some independent references about it in its article and does seem to be sufficiently notable for Wikipedia. I hope that clears up some of your misconceptions.
