:::::That works. I suspect the reason it's important to him, is that while his original citizenship was Canadian, he didn't grow up in Canada. He's now an American citizen (as of about 15 years ago), but that was explicitly by naturalization - he's lived here since dropping his law career and his wife is American, but given his background, the label "American author" doesn't fit quite right.
