Welcome to WikiProject Article Rescue Squadron (ARS). Sometimes Wikipedia articles about notable topics exist in poor form, badly written, unsourcedmdash but is that sufficient in itself to remove them from the encyclopedia at Articles for Deletion? No! If an article about an encyclopedic topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, the article simply needs improvement. This is where WikiProject Article Rescue Squadron may come to the rescue.

The Article Rescue Squadron Wikiprojectproject focuses on articles that may be written in poor form, that lack references or need improvement, but whose reliable sources backed topics are worthy of a Wikipedia stand alone article per Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Some writer may have worked hard on that article. Some reader can use that article. In reaching out to work with such writers and readers, the project can help preserve worthwhile content in the encyclopedia. An article rescue is particularly important when an article is nominated for deletion at Articles for deletion (AfD) and simply needs improvement using reliable sources brought out in the AfD page for an article or available elsewhere.

The project works toward improving Wikipedia as a whole by cooperating together to improve deficient articles through editing to provide needed sources, correcting inappropriate style or tone, cleaning up grammatical and layout problems, etc. The Squadron does not support cooperative efforts to list "Keep," "Delete," or other courses of action at AfD.
