: First, yes - I agree it's a problem. Often if something I wrote sits more than a day or two then I'll check history and go to one of the recent editors to discuss. I like the idea of notifying the original author, but I'd include the editor with the most edits as well. Also, should it be a "ping" on user talk, or just an email that someone has posted to the article talk and it hasn't been responded to in x hours, or x days? : To expand a bit on the why notify the most prolific editor as well: There are a TON of articles where the original author simply isn't editing wiki anymore. Even the most prolific editor of that article may be long gone. At that point, I guess you just look at page history and try to find someone still active. (which doesn't really solve the problem, I know.) — Ched (talk) 13:33, 29 May 2021 (UTC)

::The question is whether we can/should have some automation for the task of "find the people most likely to be interested in a talk page query". Could be something like "from the article statistics, check who has been active in the last month, and then take the top two of those". Once I have to personally look through the history page, it is easier to just post on a user talk page. —Kusma (talk) 14:01, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
