Anyone who is interested in contributing, please sign up below and post any ideas and suggestions on the Talk page. ==Scope==

This WikiProject aims to coordinate development of and improvements to articles related to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and the surrounding metropolitan area in Western Pennsylvania, including Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.

This works to elevate the Pittsburgh city article to Featured Article status, improve existing Pittsburgh-related articles, and create new articles for Pittsburgh-related subjects that don't have articles yet. We monitor and improve Portal:Pittsburgh.

This is an open project that is owned and controlled by all its members. Its open tasks are a compilation generated by many of its members. All concerns with elements of this project should be discussed on the Talk page.

Murray Chotiner (1909–1974) was an American political strategist, attorney, government official, and close associate and friend of President Richard Nixon during much of Nixon's political career. He served as campaign manager for the future president's run for the United States Senate in 1950 and for his vice presidential bid in 1952, and managed the campaigns of other California Republicans. He was active in each of Nixon's two successful runs for the White House in low-profile positions. After Congress investigated Chotiner in 1956, suspecting the attorney was using his connections to Nixon for influence peddling to benefit his private clients, the Vice President and his former campaign manager temporarily parted ways. Nixon recalled him to work on his 1962 gubernatorial campaign and again for his successful 1968 presidential bid. After Nixon was inaugurated in 1969, Chotiner received a political appointment to a government position and, in 1970, became a member of the White House staff. He returned to private practice a year later, but was involved in Nixon's 1972 re-election campaign. He remained an informal adviser to Nixon until he died in Washington D.C. following an auto accident in January 1974, and Nixon mourned the loss of a man he described as a counselor and friend. ==== Recent changes to Pittsburgh articles ====

Change patrol
Editors are encouraged to 'patrol' recent changes to those articles related to Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania.

To ensure that all changes to Pittsburgh-related pages are sound, here are "recent changes" pages to aid in that endeavor:

*ALL CATALOGUED: Recent changes to all pages catalogued for WikiProject Pittsburgh

*MAIN ARTICLE: Recent changes to all pages linked to from the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania article

Line 200 ⟶ 189:

* Identify and list all Pittsburgh-related infoboxes and navigational templates on a subpage, and consider the development of new ones.

* Add a quality assessment scale on a subpage, listing all pages that fit into various grade levels.

* Plan and develop Portal:Pittsburgh (See Portal:Philadelphia for an example).

Newsletter
Line 208 ⟶ 196:

A continuous goal of this project is to improve sub-articles referenced in the Pittsburgh city article as well as any article related to the subject of Pittsburgh. This section aims to list the articles with the greatest current need.

Also, see the full list of all Pittsburgh-related stubs. Project members should try to improve stubs at least to the point where the stub notices can be removed.

Article cleanup
Line 219 ⟶ 207:

These are potential articles that project members have requested be created for the Wikipedia. If you know of a notable subject for an article that isn't listed here and want to create the article right away, please do so.

*Pittsburgh attractions — categorize under :Category:Visitor attractions in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

**Golf in Pittsburgh, or alternatively, Golf in Western Pennsylvania. This article would also be useful for the Portal:Pittsburgh. It could cover history, famous courses and events, and players from the area.

Photos
I need a photo of a "sankey brick" for the new Sankey brick article. Can someone on the Southside look around for an old brick stamped "SANKEY"? I no longer live in Pennsylvania.

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal
Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time!
