The ayin is a gutteral A. Example: Abu does '''not''' have an ayin, so `Abu is not correct. `Ali does have an ayin, so it is pronounced with a gutteral A. If you pronounce it Ali, it is not correct. If you listen to native Arabic speakers you will hear the difference when they say `Ali. And please note that the mark for the ayin is (should be) different from the Hamza.
