Production

Vamsi Paidipally roped in Devi Sri Prasad as the music director of this film during the pre-production stages marking his first collaboration with him. Contrary to Ram Charan's previous films, This film had no remix version of Chiranjeevi's hit songs which was confirmed by Devi Sri Prasad in his Twitter after much speculations rose regarding the song of Chiranjeevi to be remixed in the film.[2] In May 2012, a footage of the song Ayyo Paapam starring Ram Charan and Scarlett Mellish Wilson was leaked on the Internet along with the video which received highly positive response. Even the song was compared to Devi Sri Prasad's past work Kevvu Keka which was used in the Soundtrack Album of 2012 film Gabbar Singh.[3] Later in June, the scratch version of Cheliya Cheliya sung by Devi Sri Prasad was leaked into the Internet. The song won immense appreciation though some drew inevitable comparisons with the song Brathakaali from Oosaravelli whose music was also composed by Devi Sri Prasad.[4] The promo songs of the film were uploaded by Aditya music on 1 July 2013.[5] After postponing several times, the audio was officially launched at Shilpakala Vedika in Hyderabad on the same date i.e., 1 July 2013 where the star crew of the film attended the launch with Chiranjeevi as the main guest.[6]

Reception

The audio received positive reviews. The Times of India gave a review stating "Devi Sri Prasad has come up with an album that is high on beat and low on melody, but plays to the galleries unabashedly, blending multiple genres. Though there isn't one stand-out song, the album has an overriding happy vibe about it. It isn't a record that you will cherish for long, but might just swing along while it lasts" and rated the album 3/5.[7] Musicperk.com gave a review stating "Yevadu is a decent album from DSP which neither stuns us with its excellence nor shocks with its bad tunes. It is a good, clean and neat album. Its a wholesome Music Package" and rated the album 7/10.[8] 123telugu.com gave a review stating "Just like many of Ram Charan’s films, the audio album of Yevadu is also a mass entertainer. Devi Sri Prasad has done a decent job, but he has also played a very safe game. You can compare this album to a Toyota. It will not stun and shock anyone, but it will not offend them either. It will also sell in large numbers. The audio album of Yevadu will appease fans and the tunes provide good scope for Charan to showcase his dancing abilities."[9] Oneindia Entertainment gave a review stating "Devi Sri Prasad has composed some of the youthful and fresh tunes for the soundtracks. Having meaningful lyrics, some of the songs are very melodious and trendy. Devi Sri Prasad has used western instruments as well as rustic beats for them. A couple of songs offer a chance to Ram Charan Teja to show his dancing skills. Like his previous music albums, the composer has played it safe and all his songs are decent and appealing."[10] IndiaGlitz gave a review stating "Charan and DSP coming together has been a much-waited for event. Yevadu is definitely an entertaining piece, but not among the best of DSP's works. A range of singers and lyricists do full justice, much like DSP's previous co-talent."[11] Cinecorn.com gave a review stating "Yevadu on the whole is an album that is simultaneously spectacular and ordinary. Couple of songs are fantastic, another couple are fine and two are pretty ordinary. There seems to be a conscious effort on music director’s part to give dancing sensations to Ram Charan and this part lets him down. And when he is free from that 'dancing numbers' pressure, he has delivered melodies which are beautiful to listen to. It’s an average album then with twin peaks in melody and a shining item number" and rated the film 3/5.[12] TeluguOne gave a review stating "Over all, the songs were having the touch of Devi. One can easily identify that the album was made by Devi sri prasad. Out of all, two songs were really good, and a couple of songs were ordinary. and out of rest two 1 can be listened and the other one will be skipped after 2 lines."[13] Milliblog gave a review stating "There are two types of Devi Sri Prasad soundtracks – one where his recycling is utterly boring, and the other where his recycling somehow works against all ennui. Yevadu’s soundtrack belongs to the latter category."[14] Cineoutlook.com gave a review stating "Overall The Songs are Superb. The music will rock the audience in the coming days. Awesomely composed by the young Music Director Devi Sri Prasad. Lyrics are super for all the songs" and rated the album 3.75/5.[15] 143Cinema.com gave a review stating "Devi Sri Prasad once again rocked with his mass beats in 'Yevadu'. His beats give immense scope for Ram Charan to show his powerful dancing styles once again. Devi even included a melody in the album. Over all the songs and Devi’s music is a treat for all kinds of audience" and rated the album 7/10.[16] APHerald gave a review stating "Devi Sri Prasad gave youthful fresh songs and proved his versatility."[17]
