In October 2012, the government of Albania decided to bring back the remains of the king from France where he died in 1961. King Zog's remains were returned in a state ceremony on November 17th, coinciding with celebrations for [[100th Anniversary of the Independence of Albania|Albania's 100th independence anniversary]].
