hi victor how do you get those user boxes in the user page? I edited your Shundi and Halla pages. I am planning to write more about bengali literature related materials. thanks for the welcome message, Jeroje 06:34, 8 January 2007 (UTC)jerojeReply

Hi, I have just come accross a message you left for me at my ip address talk which said "Your edit to Bidhan Nagar, Kolkata on 26 December 2006. Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming, and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. Thanks. --Victor 02:55, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

I went up and looked the edit you talked about, and I had just linked the city centre link in the article, to City Centre (shopping mall). How and why did you come to the conclusion that it was inappropriate, and that I was spamming, and moreover felt it was serious enough for you leave a message on my ip talk page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.176.105.35 (talkcontribs) 12:37, 21 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

We have not had occasion to discuss matters. I recently came across your note on the Rajarhat talk page. I have been working on the cities and towns for some time. I started with transfers of material from Ganeshbot and then got involved. Recently, I have put in a district template for all towns in West Bengal. Maybe, I have missed few here and there. Please have a look. Feel free to make corrections, as you deem fit. Regards -- P.K.Niyogi 03:49, 26 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Thanks for your response and also your warning about the Bankura map. I have added it. Yes, slips do take place. I have been editing pages without any regard to personal attachments. It is a good learning experience. Regards -- P.K.Niyogi 04:41, 27 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi Victor, Though it's a minor issue, I just want to point out that you cannot use "fair use" images at User:Victor.P.Das/Images I have uploaded. Such images are subject to strict usage guidelines, and any usage or display of the image must be on a page where the usage will be fair under the criteria (i.e. an article about the object).

I suggest that you remove the thumbnails to FU images and just link to them ... an example is like this Image:Logo hcs.JPG. Thanks. --Ragib 17:38, 23 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Actually, you can use thumbnails for images with licenses that allow for it. Fair use is just another name of using a copyrighted work under a strict and narrowly defined way ... you can ONLY use it to illustrate the object. Even if you had uploaded it, the image is still copyrighted. Any usage of it outside the strict fair use criteria isn't allowed, and so, user pages/subpages cannot have fair use images (see #8 on the criteria page). Hope this helps. --Ragib 18:03, 23 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello. A new WikiProject about Saskatchewan has been started as an attempt to better organize information in articles related to the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. If you would like to participate, you can Saskatchewan articles, add Saskatchewan content, or visit the project page, where you can join / edit the project and/or contribute to the discussion. Oh! Thank you! That is much easier :-) I hope WP SK works out, some of the other provinces have just gone for it, and SK has so many articles online, but they all don't have categories or Talk templates to help bring them together for a quick search.

Hi, I am not a very active Wikipedian, but I try to make a contribution when I can. I was wondering if there would be interest in some of the Saskatchewan Wpers getting together some time in the near future. I suggest the Craik Eco-Centre at noon for lunch on Saturday, June 23. Thanks for uploading Image:EastBengalNewLogo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 20:10, 10 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

That is a terrific photo you took. And in winter -- Reginans are always rather bashful about photos of their city when it is minus 30 degrees, but that is, when all is said and done, when the city is at its most characteristic. It is a pity, though, that you only took one. Or did you? It would be nice if there were photos that showed the new Wascana campus of the university to better effect: from the new oval, for example; or showing the new residences. Any chance that you will be in Regina again in the foreseable future? Or that you took a few other photos when you were last there? Greetings, incidentally, from Australia.Masalai 18:54, 16 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

You're right, I suppose: with brighter sun the photo would have been even better; but as I say, that IS what Regina looks like much of the time and it is certainly the best photo there is. Masalai 03:35, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

A tag has been placed on Saskatoon and District Soccer Association, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Finngall talk 21:33, 19 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Saskatchewan Portal Creation Drive

  • Please comment about the formation of a new concept - a Saskatchewan Portal

Take a peek at the Canadian Portal. There are four provinces, BC, ON, PQ, and Nunavut. There are also four Canadian cities with portals of their own as well.

Portals are pages intended to serve as "Main Pages" for specific topics or areas. Portals may be associated with one or more WikiProjects; unlike WikiProjects, however, they are meant for both readers and editors of Wikipedia, and should promote content and encourage contribution.[1]

A unique concept by Portal India was to add a quiz as well India/Quiz

Portals introduce the Wikipedia reader to new developments by the wikiproject showing selected biographies, articles, pictures to feature periodically, and archive the previous suggestions. The portal may list information introducing the portal subject, categories, did you know, to do, other wikiprojects and news features as well.

Whereas Wikipedia:WikiProject Saskatchewan is an organization created to promote Saskatchewan usage and participation in Saskatchewan article editing and development.

  • The Academics and alumni articles have been created to assist the U of S article
  • Category sorting - more to do - ensure all articles are within a category/multiple categories.
    • Photographs on Wiki commons have been resorted into categories and subcategories.
  • Prepare a welcome/invitation template for recruiting potential members
  • Create new articles (e.g. Sports in Saskatchewan, Health in Saskatchewan)...
    • Sports in Saskatchewan is a newly created article, and is receiving help from afield to further the sections and edit copy.
  • Associate famous personalities to their home communities (e.g. Lorne Babiuk to Canora, Saskatchewan)...
    • As New articles are created check the wiki link at the bottom of the article title 'What Links Here. Here related articles and biographies are listed which should have reciprocal links or information upon the newly created main article page.
  • Geographical classification of Saskatchewan (consensus needed, e.g according to Weather Canada/Environment Canada)
    • Discussion is invited to help organize the areas of the Saskatchewan Wikiproject.

Original Reporter - Victor D PARLE

What's New?

Northern Saskatchewan Focus' For the northern areas of Saskatchewan these are newly created articles: Ajawaan Lake, Nistowiak Falls. There are major expansions made to Prince Albert National Park, Churchill River. These are primarily natural areas, landforms etc. If others have this interest, there is a lot to do such as obvious entries such as Lac La Ronge (and the provincial Saskatchewan parks ), and some of the famous lakes in the north, some named for explorers and fur traders. Saskatchewan Roads and Highways Red links to Saskatchewan roads

When looking through some Saskatchewan Highway articles (especially those containing intersection lists), you may notice that there are red links to potential Saskatchewan road articles (especially Range and Township Roads). However, many of these roads do not appear on the List of Saskatchewan provincial roads. If you happen to read over any highway articles, and you notice a red link to a road that does not appear on the provincial roads list, please add the road's name to the appropriate section on that list. Eventually, I believe that we will have a list of all known Saskatchewan rural roads. Thank you. Ultraflame | talk 01:35, 7 August 2007

Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Alliance Fr logo.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:04, 7 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Thanks for uploading Image:AAFC_Logo.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. New Template Saskatchewan

  • AT Bot requests, another very kind user has also offered to help with the transition process (Thank you also to Ρх₥α )

The request conglomerated together the following tasks to help show the quantity / quality of Saskatchewan related articles:

  1. tag all articles in Category:Saskatchewan and all of its subcategories with {{WikiProject Canada |sk = | class=| importance=}} and if {{WikiProject Canada | class=| importance=}} already exists, then can just |sk=yes be added to the Canada template?
  2. all articles which have a Saskatchewan related stub Saskatchewan-politician-stub / Saskatchewan-stub / Saskatchewan-geo-stub to be tagged in their talk pages for wikiproject Saskatchewan and be classified as stub as such: {{WikiProject Canada |sk =yes | class=stub| importance=}}
  3. add GA or FA to to the class parameter of {{WikiProject Canada}} articles if any other template has such a parameter value on the talk page.
  4. add stub to the class parameter if a stub tag is present on the article page.
  5. Replace the old tag {{Saskatchewanproject}} with the new parent wikiproject tag: {{WikiProject Canada |sk =yes | class=| importance=}} and if {{WikiProject Canada | class=| importance=}} already exists, then can just |sk=yes be added to the Canada template?
  6. add to the class area FL for any Featured-class lists articles if any other template has such a parameter value on the talk page.
  7. add to the class area List if the Saskatchewan related item in category:Saskatchewan articles if any other template has such a parameter value on the talk page.

Watch Arctic Gnome's assessment table worklist for progression undertaken by Ρх₥α. It is a very exciting time. Please take a moment to send an award or other recognition

Highway Picture Template

  • Just as there is only one image needed for upload for Saskatchewan locator maps, and then various towns can be updated upon this image. So, too there should be a highway picture template, so that the various numbered highways 1, 33, 34, 58, 913, 914, etc can all have their own image without needing to create a bizzilion numbered images online.

  • Our 2004 Saskatchewan election has resulted in an amazing number of politician biographies coming online! This was an awesome achievement, and something to be proud of!
  • Qyd (talk · contribs) and Arctic.gnome (talk · contribs) are editors of a wide variety of Canadian related articles, and of note as of this date is the enormous amount of work they have undertaken to help amalgamate all the various provincial wikiprojects and Canadian sub projects into one umbrella assessment department. This unique assessment department means that Saskatchewan related articles can be assessed for their own provincial merit, and also belong to the Canadian wikiproject as well. It also means that editors from both Canada wikiproject and Saskatchewan wikiproject can unite in their efforts to provide banners and ratings to articles. This will result in a huge improvement in quality on wikipedia, resulting in Saskatchewan's spotlight award for Qyd (talk · contribs). January 2008 newsletter Please pop into the Spotlight Department and read all the brief introductory Wikipedia Saskatchewan bio. Welcome and Happy New Year!:

  • Just as panic begins to settle in as to what in the world the next newsletter should mention, new areas of development and growth come about. The coming year of 2008 should provide not only more Saskatchewan articles, but also more articles with higher ratings with the assistance of more editors, and a new assessment department umbrella. The highways and roads project has given a good base for development, and to strengthen the presence and notability of roads and highways and effort is being called upon to help these articles improve, now that they too are under the assessment umbrella.

Saskatchewan Roads and Highways

Saskatchewan Roads and Highways The WikiProject Canada Roads is undergoing an overhaul. It is aiming to produce some Good articles and Featured articles of highway content pertaining to Canada, and for the Saskatchewan Roads and Highways for Saskatchewan highways. As Saskatchewan is still a work in progress this is a challenging endeavour for as the guidelines are followed as laid out at either Highway wikiproject, they become red link farms because wikilinked articles have not been developed regarding the communities, provincial and regional parks and rural municipalities which the highways meander through. Please keep apprised of the progress, and if any Saskatchewan articles rise above stub we will list it on the main page.

There is also discussion started about assessment and navigation boxes on the talk page. Please peek in to add any comments you may have.

If you want to add your name as a particpant to the Canada Roads wikiproject [here]. To join the Saskatchewan Roads wikiproject sign on the main here please.

Recently articles Saskatchewan Highway 1, 33, 34, 58, 913, 914 have been improved, but they need more help so they can become articles nominated as Good articles. Please help out if you are able, even to create community and rural municipality articles for these Highway articles would be an enormous help.

Hi Victor,

Just wanted to know if you are the author of the Canadian indoor soccer page?

I have a BURNING question that I really want to talk to you about. I'm basically choked that there is no Vancouver team in the new league. What's with that? Vancouver is a massively pro-soccer region. They would flip out to have a pro indoor team. Do you know why they are not in on this?

WikiProject Saskatchewan Communities & Neighbourhoods has undergone a new facelift and revamping just in time to putter away at new civic articles on the August civic holiday, the first Monday of August. Drop by and see the new colour scheme which corresponds the the provincial colours. The assessment department provides quality ratings to articles via the talk page. At the current moment the assessment department combines the communities project with the province on the Canada talk page bannerr. There is a request out to make an assessment table from the parent talk page banner or if a new banner is advised. The challenge has been met! User:CBM figured out the coding necessary! A number of various editors and administrators puttered at applying the code, and it works!! Thank you very much.

  • C class assessment is the newest addition for articles which need more TLC before being assessed as B class such as citations or wiki clean up. The article is more useful than a start class article, but isn't quite as rounded as a B class article.
  • A class articles will need more than one reviewer for reaching A class article criteria.

What's New?

What's New?: The new articles are now being identified by a robot, and new members are being invited. • Version 0.7 Saskatchewan articles

Wikipedia 0.7 is a collection of English Wikipedia articles due to be released on DVD, and available for free download, later this year. The Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team has made an automated selection of articles for Version 0.7.

We would like to ask you to review the articles selected from this project. These were chosen from the articles with this project's talk page tag, based on the rated importance and quality. If there are any specific articles that should be removed, please let us know at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.7. You can also nominate additional articles for release, following the procedure at Wikipedia:Release Version Nominations.

A list of selected articles with cleanup tags, sorted by project, is available. The list is automatically updated each hour when it is loaded. Please try to fix any urgent problems in the selected articles. A team of copyeditors has agreed to help with copyediting requests, although you should try to fix simple issues on your own if possible.

We would also appreciate your help in identifying the version of each article that you think we should use, to help avoid vandalism or POV issues. These versions can be recorded at this project's subpage of User:SelectionBot/0.7. We are planning to release the selection for the holiday season, so we ask you to select the revisions before October 20. At that time, we will use an automatic process to identify which version of each article to release, if no version has been manually selected. Thanks! For the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial team, SelectionBot 23:16, 15 September 2008 (UTC) - Articles selected for SaskatchewanReply

    • The election has now been called, so as with all elections we'll need to keep a close eye on the main article, party articles and candidate articles to make sure everything is conforming to policy (read: NPOV) and to watch out for likely edit wars.

Of course it will all be nothing compared to what happens on election night, October 14th, as packs of anon editors update ridings according to who won the first 1% of the vote, so mark that date on your calendar too. -Royalguard11(T) 18:11, 7 September 2008 (UTC) -Canadian Federal Election 2008Reply

  • Rural municpalities
Individual categories for each rural municipality are being created. It would be good to gather consensus as to which articles should be tagged with an individual RM category. The places names which an RM provides rural government for should be within the individual category for the RM. However, should these areas also be added into the individual RM category: political divisions, points of interest, notable people from the RM, towns with their own urban governments which host the RM office? Add your comments.

Bearcat has made this announcement.

A tag has been placed on File:Chandannagore Strand.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:File:Chandannagore Strand.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ~ JohnnyMrNinja 22:51, 23 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please check if you can upload again with appropriate permissions. Its even better to do it on wikimedia commons, because, 1) it can be used in wikis in other languages and 2) if there is any problem with license/permissions, it is reported/deleted within a day :) --GDibyendu (talk) 08:11, 2 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

    T. Mazzei (talk · contribs) The March 2009 award is presented to T. Mazzei who upgrades and creates numerous Saskatchewan articles on a regular basis. It is good to have an editor monitoring articles, and adding wikilinks where needed. A thank you is extended for your consistent efforts.
  • Please add to the newsletter
Feel free to add to the newsletter, the blank format for the following month is at April issue. Any additions about the direction of the wikiproject, assessment, task forces, issues and opportunities or article improvements are welcome.
  • Saskatchewan photographs
    • when you are traveling or looking through old pictures, if there are any of Saskatchewan roads, highways or Saskatchewan highway signs that you would wish to upload to wikimedia commons, it would be appreciated. It would be good to show our highways in various seasons as well as with various geographical terrains. Of especial import when getting involved with photographing highways are junctions, scenic points of interest, historical markers, intersections, divided highways, road crews, historical road crews, historical travel on highways, overpasses, underpasses and road signs showing concurrencies between various highways.
    • Besides the above photographs, there are also these articles lacking images Wikipedia requested photographs in Saskatchewan
    • If you have started an article for Saskatchewan, and wikimedia commons does not have a related Saskatchewan image, then place this code on the article's talk page below the banner for Saskatchewan {{reqphotoin|Saskatchewan}} and your request will be added to the above category.
    • If you have added a request for a map, there are now locator maps for Saskatchewan available which should alleviate some of the requests added at Wikipedia requested maps in Saskatchewan For example see Saskatoon for a locator map in use.
  • Coordinators and A Class Review
Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.

All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 06:29, 28 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

    • Use the Outreach welcome template and extend a welcome to new users who are writing about Saskatchewan.
  • Biographies
    • With father's day upcoming, focus is on writing up some biographies on some notable Saskatchewan people. Please categorise these with one of the sub categories from Category:People from Saskatchewan and use the talk page banner and check off Saskatchewan=yes as biographies are harder to trace for inclusion than other Saskatchewan titular articles. With such categories-banners being used, the articles are more likely to be found and expanded by other Saskatchewan users. Take some time to find biographies of Saskatchewan folk on wikipedia currently and categorise-banner them as well.

  • Saskatchewan B Class articles and Importance ratings
An opportunity to Be bold and find out what is required to raise an aritlce past B class into GA or FA. Some information is included below about how to raise an article to B-class
  • This is an article written about the wikipedia assessment process Wikipedia Article Quality Assessment and Ranking Tips for Users and Search Engine Engineers. The video game wikiproject reviewed what enabled a topic to be classifed and ranked as important within the scope of their wikiproject and was reviewed in their Newsletter
  • For B-class articles the pre-requisites have been posted also at a few wikiprojects for the minimums required for B-class before advancing on to GA. Some wikiprojects offering B class outlines are Military History FAQ, Ships WP FAQ and WP UK roads The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
  • The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
  • A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:The Sacred Heart Church Chandannagar.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NW (Talk) 04:03, 23 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

If there was a collaboration department, then the North-West Rebellion, and its several child articles such as its battles and people would be excellent articles to find references for, expand and achieve GA or FA status. In the words of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Christine Tell who proclaimed, that "the 125th commemoration, in 2010, of the 1885 Northwest Resistance is an excellent opportunity to tell the story of the prairie Métis and First Nations peoples' struggle with Government forces and how it has shaped Canada today."[1]

Hello and welcome back to the WikiProject Saskatchewan newsletter! I, User:Presidentman, am the new editor. You may see some changes due to the fact it's my first newsletter. I'm just going easy on myself, but it will get more complex as time goes on.

  • Welcome
  • We’re excited to announce that User:Presidentman has joined WikiProject Saskatchewan as our Editor in Chief. Presidentman will oversee editorial content and the Saskatchewan Wikiproject community contributions on the Wikiproject newsletter. Presidentman has also successfully developed the Picture of the Day project and has been active on wikipedia for close to three years in a plethora of projects enriching wikipedia with close to 3,000 contributions. The transition between our old editor and the new has been smoother than any of us could have hoped for — SriMesh wrote their last newsletter article for January, 2010, and Presidentman started up without missing a beat for February 2010. The previous years for SriMesh, the past editor, had been richly rewarding, seeing subscriptions grow, informing interested editors of developments and changes to the Saskatchewan wikipedia community and supporting activities on the Saskatchewan Wikiproject. It is now time for me to move to new writing projects to finish, and further responsibilities which are vying for my attention. Please join me in welcoming Presidentman to the their new position! Presidentman is working on a host of new features and an updated look, which will take things to a new level. It is wonderful to have a new editor to bring in the new year! Expect great things.

Hi Victor,

Just now I'm solving this problem with respect to this maltose binding protein tag, I found this article on wiki. And here is what you wrote:

"...Once the fusion protein is obtained in purified form the protein of interest (X) is often cleaved from MBP with a specific protease. Protein X can then be separated from MBP by passing through the amylose column again."

It would be great if you can explain how can "Protein X can then be separated from MBP by passing through the amylose column again" because I have tried it and it doesn't work. My personal guess is since MBP binds to maltose, it simply doesn't bind to amylose resins / column unless maltose is removed beforehand.

Then the question is how to remove maltose from MBP. From Davidson et al. Mechanism of maltose transport in Escherichia coli: Transmembrane signaling by periplasmic binding proteins (1992:

"Preparation of Maltose-Free MBP

MBP was purified by affinity chromatography and was dialyzed extensively under conditions calculated to remove most of the bound maltose. For some experiments, MBP was denatured in 6M guanidine hydrochloride (Gdn-HCl) and either dialyzed against 6M Gdn-HCl or passed through a Sephadex G25 column equilibrated with 6M Gdn-HCl before renaturation by dialysis against 10mM KP1 (pH 7.0). UV-difference spectroscopy showed that the bulk of the MBP was free of maltose."

Hope to hear from you soon.

Martin

Hello, I am the lead sysop on the Liverpool F.C. wiki. It is a wiki dedicated solely to Liverpool F.C.. We aim to make the ultimate database for the club we all love. Since adopting the incredibly inactive wiki about a month ago we have greatly increased the article count and modernized it from it's previous state. The problem is there are not many active members on the site and we need more for the site to properly grow. It is well organized and on it's way to be a great site we just need more editors to expand. It is based on Wikia's network of wikis. Like Wikipedia it is free to use and the editing process is exactly the same. If you know how to edit Wikipedia you will know how to edit the Liverpool F.C. wiki. Now for the question you may be asking yourself. Why edit there? Wikipedia has articles on Liverpool. This is true. At the Liverpool wiki it is all about Liverpool. We allow editors to edit anything about Liverpool no matter how trivial. We allow edits on reserve and academy players, and even things as trivial as the fitness coaches for the year 2011. We also do not lock pages to registered users. That means if you have something to say about Steven Gerrard you can click edit and not view source and actually write something. I would love for you to come by and check the wiki out. Feel free to edit any page. Every time you click edit your ARE helping this wiki grow. Thanks for taking the time to read this! http://liverpoolfc.wikia.com/wiki/Liverpool_FC_Wiki --Coffeeclub213 (talk) 00:45, 8 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about it should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you can assert the importance of the subject,  . Clicking that button will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the article's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

Hi,

was reading your article on CTC, The thing I want to know is, what are the differences between SLT and SLC type cars? What are the full forms of SLC and SLT? Can the trams in Calcutta be classified as articulated? If so what would be a proper definition for articulation?

Hello Victor,

You have removed my edit to Newberry, SC, which added my Antiques Gallery, EuroLux Antiques, to the Points of Interest list. However, my antiques Gallery IS considered one of the points of interest in Newberry, just as much as Carter & Holmes Orchids and Enoree River Vineyards - both of which are small businesses just like EuroLux Antiques. (In fact you have The Barklin House listed, which is no longer a functioning Bed & Breakfast: http://barklinhouse.com/) Most Newberry residents bring their out-of-town family members and friends to my Gallery, as we are a specialized European and Asian Antique Furniture Gallery, directly importing hand-selected pieces from Europe and Asia, which is very different from any other antiques business in this area. In fact, we are so much a part of what there is to do in Newberry, that a local automobile company filmed a commercial at our Gallery: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CxPFITgBGM&feature=g-upl and the City of Newberry included us in a video about the city: http://www.visitnewberrysc.com/. For these reasons, I request that you please add EuroLux Antiques to the list of Points of Interest under Newberry, SC. I believe my website, www.EuroLuxAntiques.com, should also be included in the external links (as it seems that has also been deleted) so that people visiting Newberry from out of town will have an easy link to my website to see my opening times.

If you would like for me to provide an email from the City Manager, Jeff Shacker, or the Mayor, Foster Senn, I would be happy to do so. Please send an email to info@EuroLuxAntiques.com so that I will have your direct email address.

Sincerely, Aimee Talbot President of EuroLuxAntiques.com

Thanks for uploading File:Piya Basanti.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:11, 25 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge is up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge for the UK which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. If you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Canada like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1600 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for Canada but fuelled by a contest such as The North America Destubathon to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. I would like some support from Canadian wikipedians here to get the Challenge off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile! Cheers. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:55, 22 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

The article Shundi (fictional kingdom) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Element is not covered in reliable third party sources with any significant coverage, as mandated by the WP:GNG. A search does not show the sources to make this WP:Notable.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on Category:District maps of West Bengal indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
