A Man In Black (talk · contribs) – Having worked with A Man In Black extensively in the Pokémon Adoption Center and Pokémon Collaborative Project, I have seen him to be a highly motivated and dedicated wikipedian. He has been here since the 30th of March 2005 and editted many articles other than those to do with Pokémon. He is attached to policy (especially WP:FICT) and is seen quite often on WP:AfD.   20. Extreme lesbian support! - I like his attitude about hopeless battles on AFD. However, I would like to see an avoidance of acronyms around newbies, like "nn". It doesn't take that much more effort, and why confuse the newbies when we don't need to? ...Most deletable articles are made by newbies.     Since when isn't Pokémon encyclopedic? Wikipedia should certainly include Pokémon, as it has been a notable phenomenon for almost a decade. Individual articles for each Pokémon creature or attack aren't necessarily needed, however. What I find utterly surprising is the sheer amount of work people have put into Gundam articles. Every single aspect of these "mobile suits" has been described.     Speaking of real military weapons, one of these days I need to see what I can contribute to the firearms articles on WP. I'm not an expert, but I know enough to fill some stubs sometime.     I'd really rather not argue about the encyclopedic nature of Pokémon; it's mostly a hopeless quagmire. There are those who consider fiction encyclopedic, and those who don't.
    That said, I have spent a fair amount of time patrolling RC, and, before I got tangled up in the Pokémon Wikiproject, I contributed to (nonfiction) articles about portable game systems (including the Game.com, Nintendo DS, and PlayStation Portable articles) and memory cards (including Memory Stick, Secure Digital card, and SmartMedia). I've been so distracted by the Pokémon articles, though, because many of them badly needed a dose of WP:FICT, and as such I've been spending a lot of time merging articles and rewriting them for encyclopedic tone.
    Generally, both here and on Everything2, the site I contributed to before WP, I focus on one topic until I get bored with it, then move on to the next. Yes, I agree that admins should have a wide interest in the Wiki. That's why I said to User:GordonWatts that he should not concentrate himself on Terri Schiavo -related articles if he wants to be an admin. MY/OUR COMMENTS: Dear sir (or are you a mam?), with hardly 50 edits and rarely moving out of the pages for admin nomination, you will never hear about many users. Please get involved more in the basic task for which we all are here, that is, building the wikipedia. In my most humble opinion that would be the best way to hear about the users, instead of frequenting RfA page and your pathetic and poor sounding acceptance that “I have not heard about this user”. Be bold, and go and edit, you will learn about users and shall not feel like a timid boy or girl and crying repeatedly for days: I have not heard, I have not heard. Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
A. Initially, I intend to go back to doing RC patrol, as well as using the administrators' tools (protection, blocks, etc.) to help stem some of the recent vandalism of the Pokémon pages, which have been getting hit what with school back in session. I also intend to learn how to do history merges.
In the long term, I plan on learning to close AFDs (or whatever bloody thing they're called this week) and learn how to Transwiki articles. The former I already know how to do mechanically, but I'm going to spend some time getting a feel for choosing AFDs I have no emotional attachment to.
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. I'm rather pleased with the infobox I made for List of Johto Gym Leaders, and I plan on turning it into a template and using it on all of the related articles Real Soon Now. I'm also proud of how Template:pokeinfobox has turned out (Here's an example of it in use), but that's as much User:celestianpower's work as my own. Another thing I'm proud of that is as much Celestianpower's work as my own is the Pokémon species style guide.

Stretching back a ways, I'm rather proud of my contributions to Secure Digital card, although I am a bit unhappy that I don't know enough to do anything with the "technical specifications" header someone added.

3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A. I've had to deal with a handful of otherwise sane and reasonable users who I feel have gone "on tilt," acting irrationally. (I won't name names, because I respect them anyway and there's no sense embarassing them.) Usually, I patiently explain my position, then defer to someone else if I feel that the person in question isn't willing to talk to me. (On different occasions, this "someone else" has been someone User:Apostrophe or User:celestianpower, or just someone from #wikipedia.) I would hope that if I went on tilt, someone would do the same thing for me.
As for conflicts over editing, well, I entered the Pokémon Wikiproject by way of inspiring their furious wrath on VFD. Jokes aside, I've been rather outspoken there as a mergist/exclusionist voice, but it's been a good lesson on when to be bold, when to compromise, and when to concede.
I've always found, when I'm stressed or in a contentious debate, that it's a good idea to space out each controversial edit with a non-controversial, contributory edit elsewhere on Wikipedia. (This was somebody's pledge I saw somewhere; I wish I could attribute it.)
