Ajan Kloss

Ajan Kloss was a jungle moon located in the Cademimu sector of the Outer Rim Territories, in grid square L-5 on the Standard Galactic Grid, orbiting the gas giant Ajara. It was notably used by Luke Skywalker to train Leia Organa in the way of the Jedi Order as his first student of a new generation of Jedi and later the Resistance during the war against the First Order, who established a base there.

Although Ajan Kloss was a moon, it had two moons of its own. Its gas giant shielded it from harmful radiation. The jungle resonated with life and Resistance scouts would routinely check for new species to be used in medicine, though the moist environment meant technicians had to work double-time to moisture proof electronics. Other annoyances on the planet included fungal and insect infections, but there were no large predators on the moon.^[1] Jedi Master Luke Skywalker compared Ajan Kloss with the planet Dagobah, where he trained years before with Yoda. He noted that the similarities between Dagobah and Ajan Kloss were that they were wet, warm, green and overflowing with life, but the main difference was that Ajan Kloss did not smell bad.^[5] The Ajara gas giant reflected sunlight onto the moon's surface, allowing plants to gain sustenance even at night.^[1]

The Kloss

Long before the Resistance arrived on the planet, inhabitants called the Kloss lived in the Klosslands and hollowed-out caves. Historian Beaumont Kin speculated that the cave where the Resistance made their base in 35 ABY was once a Kloss refuge or storage cache.^[1]

Imperial Era

Prior to the outbreak of the Galactic Civil War, Alderaanian scouts charted Ajan Kloss, which was located in a patchily explored stretch of space off the Celanon Spur. However, the scouts deliberately hid it from the Imperial Senate because it was short-listed as a potential home for a rebel base like Yavin 4 and Dantooine, but the shifting battlefront against the Empire precluded Ajan Kloss from being used during the conflict.^[1]

New Republic Era

Yet it served as a training ground for Luke Skywalker and his sister, Leia Organa at the latter's suggestion sometime after the Battle of Endor, where Skywalker trained Organa in the ways of the Jedi as his first student.^[1] She utilized her lightsaber for sparring sessions during her time as her twin brother's first Padawan,^[4] and became immensely skilled with the blade.^[5] Organa discontinued her training after she told Skywalker that she had sensed the death of her son at the end of her path.^[4]

After the formation of the New Republic, Ajan Kloss served as a quiet waypoint between Republic outposts.^[6]

Rise of the First Order

The Resistance maintained a presence on Ajan Kloss during the war against the First Order. The mission to find Exegol was launched from the Resistance base, and when the planet's location was uncovered, the Resistance forces scrambled and prepared for battle against the Sith Eternal. They later returned with the allied fleet for the victory celebrations.^[4]
