Would you have preferred I ordered the Whetstone to bombard the planet from space?»

Why not? […] They have nothing that holds terror for us. We've seen the insignificant defenders that guard their worlds. We've seen the larger but still pitiful warship they use to travel outside their nest of ignorance and darkness. Why not bring them enlightenment right here and now?Jixtus and Generalirius Nakirre

The Chiss heavy cruiser,[5] also known as the Chiss warship,[6] was a class of heavy cruiser[1] utilized by the Expansionary Defense Fleet of the Chiss Ascendancy that when uncloaked glistened with lights and was covered in weaponry.[4] Darth Vader noticed that it was not as big as a Star Destroyer, although after seeing its flankside weaponry he believed it would be a formidable opponent.[6] One such starship, the Steadfast[3] was used by Admiral Ar'alani to rendezvous with Commander Eli Vanto of the naval branch of the Galactic Empire in the aftermath of the Batonn insurgency,[4] and was again used to gather and return kidnapped Force-sensitive female Chiss children after a battle between the Grysk and the Galactic Empire.[6]

The Chiss warship first appeared, albeit unnamed, in the 2017 canon novel by Timothy Zahn, Thrawn,[4] and was later pictured in Thrawn 6, the sixth part of a comic adaptation by Jody Houser of the novel that was released in 2018, with illustrations by Luke Ross.[7] Chiss heavy cruisers were first identified in Zahn's 2021 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Greater Good.[5]

In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Chiss heavy cruisers were known as "Chiss assault cruisers"[8] or "Chiss attack cruisers"[9] and first appeared in Troy Denning's 2005 novel Dark Nest III: The Swarm War.[8]
