Keating was born Dominic Power to parents Patricia (née Keating) and Lawrence Power, in [[Leicester]] toon an1 IrishJuly 1961. His took part in his first stage performance while he was inattending [[primaryprep school]] at Stoneygate School, as athe character Cripple in ''The Ragged School''.
