Phoenix Jones is the leader of a ten-member real-life superhero group called the Rain City Superhero Movement, which operates in Seattle and Lynnwood, Washington. At night, he enters a secret room of an unnamed comic book store, [1] and dons a costume which consists of a bulletproof vest, stab plating, a taser, a nightstick, and mace.[2]

He says the best way to prevent getting mistaken for a criminal by the police is to wear a supersuit. [3]

Opinion on other caped crusaders

Phoenix Jones does not condone other people dressing up and fighting crime. He says that all members of the Rain City Superhero Movement have a military and/or mixed martial arts background.[4]

Crimes stopped so far

  • In Lynnwood, Washington, Phoenix Jones prevented a car theft, although the perpetrator escaped. [5]
  • In Seattle, Washington, Phoenix Jones alerted the police to a driver he believed to be intoxicated. [6]

Injury

Phoenix Jones made news because of an incident that occurred while he was attempting to break up a fight. One of the men pulled a gun on him while another one kicked him, breaking his nose. Seattle police say this confirms their fears that these real-life super heroes are unqualified civilians who interfere with law enforcement and put themselves at risk. [7]

Phoenix Jones was stabbed with a knife while trying to intervene with a drug dealer and a citizen. Part of his costume was damaged and had to be repaired. [8]

He claims that his bulletproof vest helped stop a bullet during an incident in Tacoma. [9]
