Hello! I'm Pohjamadesse1, but everyone calls me Jama, so I go by that really. I was born and raised as an Occitan speaker in rural Gasconha, and it is my native language, along with French. I prefer to use the Gascon dialect but I understand the other dialects with basically the same understanding.

My main interests are Occitania, and local politics and radio. I'm also a fan of Charles de Gaulle and I sometimes do a spree of editing things related to him and his ideology.

You'll usually find me correcting information or expanding paragraphs. All my edits are in good faith. If I make any mistake or something of mine is reverted, please let me know at my talk page, I would appreciate the feedback!

I'm also a volunteer translator for French to English and Occitan to English articles, so if you have anything you would like me to translate, let me know!

Visca Occitània!, frequently shortened to Visca! or it's abbreviation VOC, is a center-left political party in Occitània, including branches in the Val d'Aran and the Occitan Valleys. Founded in 1912 by Frederic Mistral, a Provençal writer and lexicographer, it advocates for Occitan nationalism, especially devolved government for the region, and advances in the regional languages within Occitania. It is historically the most successful Occitan party, with it's main opponent, the Partit Occitan. The party traditionally does not field presidential candidates and endorsed the Parti socialiste until it, disgruntled with the candidates and the Socialist party's poor performance, fielded Romiegè de la Tor d'Auvèrnha, President of the Regional Council of Occitanie in the 2022 French presidential election. He earned 23% of the first round vote but narrowly lost 49.82% to 50.18% to Emmanuel Macron.

The party is traditionally aligned with trade unions and the working class, and secures a majority of their votes consistently whether or not they have a landslide loss. The last time it did not do this in the 1889 French legislative election, it won only 2 seats, all in Aveyron. The party has such a strong hold on the sector because of it's social democratic policies, although for periods in the 1980s and 2000s it moved towards third way centrism. A significant wing of the party is still present here, although have been unable to vote in one of their members since 2009.

History
The party traces it's roots back to the French Revolution, because that is where the origins of the linguistic discrimination of vergonha are.
