Israel is a populated but unincorporated community located in Farm Road 1316 of southwestern Polk County, Texas, United States, located 80 miles (128 km) north of Houston.[1][2][3]
It was settled in 1895-1896 by a religious group called the Israelites, who established a land in which it covers 144 acres (0.58275 km³). The land was transferred to what they say to be the Lord God of Israel, Creator of Heaven and Earth, and the statement was so documented in the Polk County Courthouse. A church was built in the middle of the territory in which they call the New House of Israel.
The culture of their sect involves adhering to vegetarian lifestyles and engaging in agricultural activities.
