This article should be moved (or renamed) to the full name of the company (as opposed to the acronym). This is general Wikipedia policy, IIRC. If no one objects, I'll do it myself.DoomBringer 2 July 2005 06:00 (UTC)

Actually, this should have remained at WACO, at least according to the current naming conventions, which say, "Avoid the use of acronyms in page naming unless the term you are naming is almost exclusively known only by its acronyms and is widely known and used in that form" (emphasis added). This is definitely true of WACO. So, this needs sorting out. I'll get to it eventually, but if someone else wants to do it, good. As this use of WACO is much more common than those on the current disambiguation page, it seems that this article should go back to WACO, with a redirect here (at Weaver Aircraft Company of Ohio), and some sort of redirect at the beginning of this article, either to the two alternate possibilities (radio stations), or to the WACO (disambiguation) page. —SkipperPilot 14:41, 9 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

WACO is never referred to as Weaver Aircraft, particularly in Troy OH. I grew up in a home in front of the factory, which is located on Waco Street in Troy, and occupied since the closure of the WACO company in 1947 by Goodrich Corporation, then BF Goodrich Aerospace and Defense. My father worked in the facility from 1951 until 1973. Forgive me if I feel a little proprietary toward this article.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by PSzymeczek (talkcontribs) 03:10, 23 April 2007 (UTC).Reply

I have updated all pages linking to the Weaver Aircraft page except for the redirects so they point to Waco Aircraft Company which is currently redirecting to Weaver. I am not sure how to proceed regarding swapping the names between a redirect page and the main page though. Cheers, NiD.29 (talk) 14:38, 15 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

User:NiD.29: I noticed that you were creating piped links to a redirect page Waco Aircraft Company instead of to the current primary article name Weaver Aircraft Company of Ohio, was your intention to move the main article itself to Waco Aircraft Company? - Ahunt (talk) 15:36, 15 June 2009 (UTC)\Reply

It is - The Weaver name was only used for four years (1920-1924), no-one knows the company by that name and the only aircraft created during that time were not particularly successful. Weaver is really a footnote to Waco, rather than the other way around and wasn't even the start of their building aircraft, but merely the first formal incorporation of the Waco organization. I didn't want to leave any dead links when the change was made (or have an unnecessary number of redirects) so took care of them first (with just the redirect/disambig pages left to change) once the two pages have been swapped. Comments posted here (aside from the first renaming) were all in favour of the rename back to Waco so I hope I haven't stepped on too many toes. :) Cheers, NiD.29 (talk) 02:33, 16 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

I think we had better get on and move the page before someone fixes all those links to avoid the redirect page (Like I started to do and then thought I had better ask!). So that is now done! - Ahunt (talk) 12:11, 16 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
