About Me

I live in Ireland. I love Robot Wars, Top Gear and Fawlty Towers best. If you have 'found' my talk page, you know the rules. Disobey them — if you dare!

Favourite Robots

As you can see, a random lot, dumped in a random order. There were a few close calls, and a few re-organisations compared with my original list. May not be suitable for sensible people (ie: Germans, sorry!). Anyway, here's the lingo, which DOES NOT include "Ahoy there me hearties!" Right, let's get cracking.
Bold typeface indicates robots that I have made and I still have (somehow, don't ask me why for fear of me selling your house to Mr. Edward Hoppitt, although I won't since I don't know where your house is). (example:259). Italic typeface indicates robots that I did build, but since lost them/ set fire to them/ dumped them in a cup of cold tea that was intended for my now-dead cat/ left on the side of the N7 to be crushed by a elderly man in his V-reg Vauxhall Corsa (example:Cerberus)

# Robot And why did I choose you?
10 259 259 was Adam Clark's best machine in my opinion anyway. It was destructive, and its qualifier couldn't be easier unless Adam Clark was up against three random sheep. But, naturally, his luck was far from good. Its drive belts would say "We have a headache" if you even breathed on the "protecting" side panel. It was slower than... the alleged "breeze" blowing near our house at the moment (zilch) at 9 miles (14 km), and if he had thought it through properly, the high ground clearance wouldn't be such a big problem if it had a srimech. Also, when I was doing a Robot Wars All Stars event using my models, I introduced 259 as the house robot. It didn't go well, as you will see.

259 was assaulted by Firestorm and Merlin, and possibly others as well. It was flipped and the contestants made a fool of him. 259 landed out of the arena several times. 259 also landed in the pit at least twice.

Not well at all, is he? Thankfully, he can have more respite than, say, sitting in front of me by the computer when a new house robot comes for the next series (I don't know what to make next, but unfortunately it won't be Hypno-Disc).

9 Cerberus Why? The gold paint mate. Now harrass someone else, I simply can't be bothered to say anymore about it.
8 Firestorm Ah, Graham Bone's creation now. Semi-Finalists five times, 3rd thrice, and Commonwealth Carnage champions (and oh boy, was there some carnage in the CC). Just a shame that Firestorm was always the bridesmaid, but never the bride...
7 Behemoth ...talking of weddings, this robot was the best man looking like he had eaten a Ford Transit van (even though the best man I'm talking about doesn't exist!) Sorry, off-topic, please shoot me, I clearly don't belong here! Anyway, Anthony and Michael Pritchard's beast of a thing was always cursed (arena spike in Series 3, X-Terminator in Series 4, the pit in Series 5 and 6 and the less said about Series 7 the better). Still, it was (and still is) a strong competitor when it was actually properly operational. And, no offence, guys.
6 Bodyhammer Pussycat's old daddy (speaking of whom, Pussycat is further up this list, somewhere). The only thing I liked about it was its original (I think) copper paint, and only the paint. Now drink your cup of tea instead of leaving it for the cat.
5 The Steel Avenger Steel Avenger was an axe master (remember what happened to poor old King B3?) and, when it lost in Series 7, at least it lost in style, being rammed out of the arena by the crazy Storm 2 (who, like Pussycat, is further on up the road and down the L4022)
4 Hypno-Disc You probably know by now. If you don't, it was the total disc-truction to robots like Robogeddon, Stealth and Splinter.
3 Chaos 2 Firestorm, who is No. 8 in this list, was the first robot to fall foul of the out-of-the-arena bug. 59 more were to come, including six from this machine alone. Firestorm and Dantomkia had even more, with seven and nine respectively.
2 Pussycat Look at what it achieved. It was a Tag Team Terror champion (with Diotoir, meaning "annihilator" in English), the Celebrity Special champion, an All-Stars champion and an Annihilator champion. In addition, in Series 4 it disarmed Razer [3] and Hypno-Disc [2] before losing out to Chaos 2 [1] in the Grand Final. And it did all this... seeded #19 in Series 4. A truly great robot.
1 Storm 2 I have loved Storm 2 since I first knew about it. Really heartbroken about what happened in the controversial Series 7 Grand Final. It was not a pleasant way to end the UK wars, because Storm 2 was, in my opinion, the better robot. Yea sure, Typhoon 2 caused a lot of damage to opponents, but that doesn't help if a robot is quite tough (such as Storm 2) but Mentorn's fanfare over Storm 2's panel and not Typhoon 2's drive chains was sickening and downright unnecessary. Storm 2, I feel, should have won Series 7.

I may have built 68 models, yet I hope to have 72. Some I will build are here, yet I am away from my colours, my card and the sellotape which is in Ireland, so that's fine because right now I am back in Ireland, with 4 more to construct.

Some of the 18 robots built (Rick is the only robot in the picture not immortalised into white card).

Building the house robots.

Favourite Catchphrases

  • 10: Say What You See: The show's motto. Shame the players never got it....
  • 9: Catchphrase: ....The contestants did get this though.
  • 8: Scraping The Bottom Of The Barrel: Nick Weir era, this one. Very funny.
  • 7: Teddy Bear's Picnic: Sums me up perfectly.
  • 6: Dee-Day: Wasn't D-Day, spelt Dee-day (note the subtle difference).
  • 5: Bonfire Night: The flaming 'bon'.
  • 4: Beach Bum: Say what you see! A beach with a bum!
  • 3: Frost Bite: Throbbing Ice... Throbbing Ice is back! Ice... Spider... Monkey!
  • 2: Booby Trap: Hilarious.

And the top spot belongs to...

  • 1: Snake Charmer!: I think you know already...

So what is the creator of carnage up to at the moment? Well, I'm learning Wikipedia (as in getting to grips with the world's biggest encyclopaedia). Remember that little Twinkle icon at the top? I can request page protection with that-vandals beware! When I find an article that appears to be written by a drunkard, I tag it, edit it or just blank the page and redirect to an article that has more content than the page I've redirected. So that's it. No harassing me-I will report AND request page protection (probably semi-protection to largely stop the invasion of annoying, time-wasting boxes on wheels.)

Semi-protection has been delivered. I can't wait to see that IP's face when he tries to view the source (note the semi-protection lock at the top)!

My barnstars are now on a different page. Userboxes will stay where they are for the near future.
