Hi JSwift49, we currently have an ongoing November AfC backlog drive and are about to reach zero pending submissions so if you come across drafts you think might meet the notability guidelines, now is the time to submit them. S0091 (talk) 18:48, 7 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Ok đź‘Ť thanks JSwift49 18:57, 7 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
I appreciate the intent but please do not submit my draft for me. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 21:58, 7 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
No worries! JSwift49 22:24, 7 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I hope I didn't come across too harshly, I just wanted to say that the draft isn't abandoned. I plan on moving a bunch of content around and I just prefer it to be in draftspace for now if that's alright. I do appreciate that you wrote a better lede :) Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 22:31, 7 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Of course :) take my submission of your draft as a compliment. JSwift49 22:54, 7 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Kilaseell was:

This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

 The comment the reviewer left was:

Could be an article later when he gets more coverage that can be used as sources. Right now I will decline this.

Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

Not quite enough independent, significant coverage to show why this is notable enough for a Wikipedia article.

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Pbritti was:

This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.

 The comment the reviewer left was:

Many unsourced claims, too.

Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

 The comment the reviewer left was:

Has several issues with tone, and over-citations in areas which should probably just be removed due to WP:NPOV. Referring to lines such as: "This exposure gave him a sense of what was possible", "later immersed himself in jazz", and the deep dives into every single play in lines such as "Each of the four main characters comes with his or her own personal “race” to run" with unencyclopedic focus.

You have recently edited a page related to Eastern Europe or the Balkans, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Your sources don't mention both "grounded" videos and Vyond; as such, your addition violates WP:SYNTH. OhNoitsJamie Talk 12:34, 10 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

GoAnimate is the precursor to Vyond. The first source alone confirms it is an internet meme/subculture and should be enough:
"This isn’t some tiny niche thing – a YouTube search for “caillou grounded” gets almost a quarter of a million results. Grounded videos can be over half an hour long, or as short as a minute. And they’re also weird as hell. The majority of grounded videos are made with a free program called GoAnimate, which was first released in 2008."
"There are plenty of GoAnimate subcultures on YouTube, but none quite as huge and terrifying as grounded videos. Every day sees at least 50 unique new clips updated to the service from a variety of users."
Second and third sources corroborate this category of videos existing, and the citation was only to confirm their existence.
"Nour repeatedly complained about Karim watching fan-produced Caillou and Baldi videos on YouTube that were animated by using the software program GoAnimate. The videos contained gore and violence, and Nour worried about Karim repeating or reenacting what he heard and saw. I sat with Karim as he watched one such video about Caillou bringing a murdered girl back from the dead and another in which a teacher hits Baldi with a ruler. Karim commented that the Baldi video was “funny . . . cause his teacher hits him,” but also asked Nour and me questions that indicated his confusion about the inner state of the character (“Does the teacher like him? Why does he get mad? He made a mistake?”). Nour was concerned that if Karim mimicked the language or behavior in the videos, it “could get him in trouble” with his teachers"
"There are also tons of tweets referring to the YouTube parody series Caillou Gets Grounded with each video typically ending with Caillou, well, getting grounded." JSwift49 13:10, 10 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

thanks for the additions and sources. The source saying that the IIHF 'unveiled' seems suspect since the group names are wrong. I suspect they are still discussing hosting which could precipitate changes to who wants to participate or not, and whether lower ranked asian nations want to travel or not. The source appears to have just copied and pasted from the Slovenian Ice Hockey Federation site, which would be more reliable, but it is doubtful that the nationalteams site assertion that the IIHF has just not updated their site is accurate.18abruce (talk) 11:59, 22 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Oh I had no idea thank you JSwift49 20:24, 28 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Notwally On closer look, the first time I simply moved the “incorrectly” to a quote from so it was attributed. The second time was a reversion of your edit (which I stand by). I would not call my first instance a revert, so I don’t believe I violated this rule. JSwift49 20:28, 28 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
No, that quote already had the word "incorrectly" in it in its citation text (including both times the Axios was cited and quoted). Your edit did not move the word "incorrectly" at all, but rather simply removed it from the article text. Once again, please self-revert. – notwally (talk) 20:45, 28 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
The number of times “incorrect/incorrectly” appeared in the text of the article, both before and after my edit, was once. Before it was a general statement and after I attributed that phrasing to a source. It’s not the same as reversion I’m afraid. JSwift49 21:01, 28 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi JSwift49, I would like to ask a question regarding the article Olympic Sports and actually make an edit request: shall we add a section on Youth Olympics sports? The IOC’s official website enlists Olympic Sports (incl. Youth disciplines), and some disciplines have been featured only during the Youth Olympics (eg. Beach Handball, Acrobatic Gymnastics, Rolling Speed Skating, Beach Wrestling, and Futsal; in addition, demonstration Sports included Karting). The main Sports page shows Summer, Winter, and Youth disciplines together, so it shouldn’t be controversial. Perhaps we could just mention those exclusively held at the Youth Olympics; it might be interesting for an average reader. Also, the website mentions Coastal Rowing now; shall we mention it as well? May I ask you to add all this information to the article, please? Thank you in advance. TaurenMoonlighting (talk) 20:50, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I think since the Youth Olympic Games are fundamentally different from the Olympic Games proper, they should not be on the same page. There is a table of the YOG sports at Youth_Olympic_Games#Sports. Re. coastal rowing that will take place in 2028 and I believe someone will update the table once the 2024 Games are over.
If you want to start a discussion feel free to post on Talk:Olympic sports JSwift49 22:31, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it. The reason why I’ve thought it would be reasonable to include these disciplines on the same page was because the IOC does so (see their official website at the Sports section). That means all the mentioned disciplines are not only recognized by the IOC but also held at Youth Olympics; the article mentions all the sports governed by the officially recognized federations, so I thought it’d be useful for readers to mention YOG disciplines as well. TaurenMoonlighting (talk) 00:58, 9 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Youth Olympics are just so much less important than the Olympics. They are a different class of event. So I think it’s appropriate to not lump them together. The “Olympic Games” article on Wikipedia isn’t about the YOG, and you can think of “Olympic sports” as a section of the “Olympic Games” article that was split off. JSwift49 01:01, 9 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think your arguments are true; I mean, I wouldn’t want to suggest the YOG are equally important or something like that (I’m even surprised the IOC classifies them together). But if the article mentions all potential sports (eg. sumo), perhaps there would be a way to mention the disciplines such as Futsal (if these are also on the official website)? I mean, they can be regarded as potential disciplines, too. Maybe at the end of the article just something like "other disciplines recognized by the IOC and currently held only at Youth Olympics include" with the reference to the IOC’s Sports subpage? I wouldn’t mention them not as Olympic Sports proper but rather in the context of recognized/potential disciplines. TaurenMoonlighting (talk) 01:41, 9 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I would keep Youth Olympics out of it, it has its own page and there's no need to confuse things. If you want to list all the non-Olympic disciplines of Olympic federations, like Futsal, Roller skating, Telemark skiing and whatever, I'm not sure about that either because it runs contrary to the purpose of the article "Olympic sports". JSwift49 01:49, 9 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I see your point but still I think it’s a bit odd to have all the recognized sports (currently non-Olympic) and no mention of currently non-Olympic disciplines of Olympic Sports. The article even idicates which non-Olympic sports are contested at the World Games (a very different event as well). It feels a bit incomplete especially since the IOC itself enlists YOG disciplines together with the Olympics ones. I think there should be a list of non-Olympic disciplines of Olympic Sports and even a footnote indicating which of them are contested at the YOG (similar to the footnote about the World Games). That’s my personal opinion, though. TaurenMoonlighting (talk) 20:02, 9 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Again I think it’s out of scope of the article so I don’t support it. If you want it added please post in the Talk page and try to get support for your idea. JSwift49 20:25, 9 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reasons left by CFA were:

This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

 The comment the reviewer left was:

Could be notable under WP:ANYBIO, but there are no citations in the article backing the claim that she has won anything. GNG is not established because all the sources, except for one, are either trivial namedrops or primary.

Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

Thanks for letting me know; I had wrongly assumed it would sign automatically :) JSwift49 10:52, 13 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

In this edit, you switched a comma to a colon. The comma was better. If it had just said "three more children: a, b, and c.", the colon would have been fine, but for "...a, b, and c were born in wherever" it's not, as "were born in" logically continues "three more children". You could set the name of the offspring off with dashes or parenthesis, and that would be fine. (I'm not going to undo your edit because I have a conflict of interest regarding that page, but I suggest you review it and consider undoing it yourself.) -- Nat Gertler (talk) 17:12, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by SafariScribe was:

This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.
