It's basically like OnlyFans username (P8604) --Trade (talk) 11:02, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

We normally use numerical identifiers whenever possible as they are more stable. @Thierry Caro:--Trade (talk) 14:49, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Magnus Manske: could you please connect the catalog with the identifier?--Trade (talk) 14:49, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Trade: Actually, I don't think there is a preference for numerical identifiers over alphabetical. I think we tend to pick the one that is not a redirect regardless of its form. But in the specific case, picking letters is actually a mistake. I have checked a bit more thoroughly and it happens that some rare entries in numerical form do not lead to pages with URLs in alphabetical form. See https://avn.com/porn-stars/wd-806724.html, for instance. So I'll switch back to numbers. Sorry for the inconvenience. It is all my mistake. Thierry Caro (talk) 14:55, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Eventually, it feels like we have to decide whether we want to cover the content of https://avn.com/porn-stars/wd-$1.html, with long numerical IDs and a Mix'n'match catalog ready to use. Or if we want the content linked to https://stars.avn.com/$1/, with alphabetical IDs (or small numerical ones), no Mix'n'match for the moment and I believe a smaller number of entries for individual performers. @Thierry Caro, Trade: There are actually two different IDs here:
The database predates AVN Stars, but now if someone had a database listing and is now on AVN Stars, the database redirects to their AVN Stars page. So the first link above, for Angela White's database listing, redirects to her AVN Stars page. The numerical ID is probably more stable, in case they change their AVN Stars username or stop using the site. (Also, unrelated, I guess no one noticed that the source website in the property proposal is for a different site? :) Th. Hon. 02:36, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
