A way to add a subjects official Discord channel to WD. --Trade (talk) 11:48, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment Is it possible to generate a permanent Discord invite link? I am tempted to oppose this proposal should such permanent links not exist. Mahir256 (talk) 16:23, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- These are not permanent?--Trade (talk) 17:06, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes it is possible and common to make permanent see the Discord support page about creating invites TB5ivVaO1y55FkAogw1X (talk) 01:06, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- To avoid complications, the invites should be ones that are officially posted somewhere instead of specifically created for Wikidata. Also, use the custom invite strings instead of the random string if the server has one, they are more durable. AntisocialRyan (talk) 21:08, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose IM channel URL (P8009) should be sufficient. --Tinker Bell ★ ♥ 06:50, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]- Support@Tinker Bell: I'm afraid that Discord isn't really supporting xmpp:sth url schemes (to which P8009 that you suggested, does require xmpp support iirc), they seem to have their own, probably patent-protected url scheme. --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 13:36, 6 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Liuxinyu970226: P8009 isn't limited to xmpp scheme. --Tinker Bell ★ ♥ 18:16, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Support This is useful, but channels are different than servers on Discord. A server is what you're talking about. AntisocialRyan (talk) 21:14, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- @Trade: could we get this renamed so that it says server instead of channels? Would support after that TB5ivVaO1y55FkAogw1X (talk) 01:06, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@TB5ivVaO1y55FkAogw1X: Done --Trade (talk) 07:08, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- Support Great! Now that this is corrected I support this being added TB5ivVaO1y55FkAogw1X (talk)
- @Trade: I think it should be "Discord invite ID", since server IDs also exist on Discord, and they're not the same thing. They are snowflakes that are the server as a whole, and we may have that as a property as well someday. AntisocialRyan (talk) 21:13, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
