Task/s: One-time import of a database of Québec written literary works.

Code: The full dataset to be uploaded has been prepared following the wdef structure, with wdef-tools. The import process is a Bash script using wikidata-cli.

Function details:

Source data has been provided for the purpose of being imported into Wikidata by the Union des écrivaines et des écrivains québécois - an union of writers in Québec. Because it was originally meant to be published as a standalone directory of writers and their works, it didn't fullfill Wikidata's structural and quality requirements. The current dataset is the result of 24-months cleanup to extract valuable data to be imported into Wikidata which have been double checked by people with knowledge of the literary field. It contains information about 18,535 works (196 already into Wikidata) from 1,766 different authors. Most of them live in Québec and almost all works are French written. Since all authors are in Wikidata already (albeit most are orphaned elements), none of them has to be imported.

A subset has already been sent as a representative example of the data to be uploaded. I'm seeking for any constructive feedback, so please check it and feel free to comment if you see a way to improve content or have any question. --Peuc (talk) 05:06, 17 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
