鼓手丹尼爾約莫在2015年製作出此歌曲的器樂^[2] 。而在1975樂團專輯《突襲美夢》的錄音工作告一段落後，樂團便開始進行歌曲的歌詞創作。樂團受到The Blue Nile1989年專輯《Hats》的啟發甚鉅，他們在突襲美夢的巡演過程中就一直常聽這張專輯，因而想要創造出差不多但是「有一點不一樣的東西（…）像Blue Nile用了類固醇一樣」，並讓歌曲帶有「重重的機器感，從工業意義上來說」^[3]。在《娛樂周刊》的訪談中，希利稱歌曲是基於Blue Nile的〈The Downtown Lights〉創作出來的，並表示：「我不想遮遮掩掩的，我還要所有知道的人都清楚知道我是在提這首歌。」^[4]
